Teradeck is coming out with an awesome new video transmitter.
1 transmitter 256 possible receivers. hdsdi loop, No latency. only a little bit more than a paralinx.

I can't wait to get my hands on one!

http://www.teradek.com/bolt.html

No latency and hd/sdi loop...awesome. I'm curious though...what is the latency (if any) on the new Meizler module?

Paralinx pros: encryption, price, availability, smaller.

Teradeck pros: Internal battery (only 2 hrs?), 1/4-20's, HDSDI, No waiting for multi-receiver capability, Lemo-DC.

I think that's most of it.

I think 2hrs for an internal battery is going to be perfect. I don't think there is another transmitter out there that even has a battery. Is there?

only problem for me is the price...1990 ouch....I have the CUBE already...The delay for me is the part I don't enjoy...

The cube is an animal all to itself. The delay of the cube is usable in many situations. When you have audio that is separately beaming back from the audio department it can be something directors won't like. unless you have an audio delay system in place. But the pros of the Cube are numerous. it is so inexpensive for a device that does what it does.
The bolt on the other hand is also cheap for what it does... The guys at Teradek are awesome. Great service.

Alternatives..... boxxx, transvideo, paralinx, Camwave....I guess the Recon is also available now as well.... I haven't met a camwave that has likeD me though. Aside from the PARALINX THESE SYSTEMS ARE EXPENSIVE... Good But Expensive....!
I haven't used the paralinx but I hear good things.... Other than it doesn't have hdsdi and the power port belongs on a children's toy..... (locking ports.... I'm just saying... Its really the only thing that irks everyone) Locking ports = professional tool....
soldering a lemo port on to something isn't too difficult. I've made a few cables. 20/20 vision is needed. ok it's pain. But man is it worth the trouble.
less than 2 grand... Go ahead and buy a brand new canatrans right now. You know how much they are...TOOOO much! Thats standard DEF. Who's got a CRT I can I can borrow ? : )

If this works at even 1/2 the distance they advertise...They'll sell like hot cakes.

Could some one who has had experience with both the Teradek bolt and Paralinx arrow do a side by side comparison?

Dan,
Is it true that Paralinx is made in China?
i was under impression that it was designed and manufactured by you here in US.

To be completely fair, The Arrow package comes a lot more complete, with a total solution to power both transmitter and receiver in a way we are used to and with gear we have.
Nowadays, many products are made in quantities in China and sold to different companies, that in turn put on their badges and packages and put them for sale. I am not saying that this is the case here as I'm not privy to how the Arrows are made.
I have an Arrow, and I'm glad I do. I sold my Camwave, as it was bulky and didn't have as good range, and with this little thing I'm doing much better and clients are happier. That's what matter. And if I ever have an issue, I'm sure Dan would do what it takes to solve it as fast as humanly possible...

I have a week of real world experience with the Arrow so far...

It meets or exceeds my expectations in every way. I shot Steadicam footage of a private jet yesterday on the tarmac. The AC was in my van with a Bartech and a monitor plugged into a cigarette lighter. This was because we weren't allowed to set up any sort of video village on the tarmac. The closest we could get to the jet was about 200 feet.

The Arrow performed flawlessly.

I'm sure the Bolt is also a great product, but if you need something now and you want to save some money, get the Arrow!

Copy that re: HDSDI is why.
And also 1 transmitter to multiple receivers!

this means you can stick one transmitter on the camera and then have the focus puller (using a FIZ), video village (using big 21" HD monitors) and the director (handholding a monitor [or two], standing closer to the talent) all have simultaneous wireless feeds. This means getting rid of most of the BNC Cable on set...

And the internal battery is nice too!

This is an enormously helpful product for production efficiency.

We want a bunch of these

Hi Shapour,

Some of our parts are made here in the USA, and some overseas. The world gets smaller every day.

As for a comparison, I am happy to offer up an Arrow for a test comparison when the Bolt is released and ready for a head to head comparison.

Personally I think there is a place in the marketplace for both products, and keep your eyes on PARALINX as we are not sleeping if you know what I mean.

Hey Dan -

Glad you're not sleeping :)

Bring us the 1 to many!!!

And hdmi locking cables or HDSDI please :)

Go go go go go!
