  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Schneider Xenon FF vs Xenar-cine III. FOR Epic-w

I think the Xenar's have a little more character, but it depends if you like that character.
Bearing in mind that the Sony glass costs one quarter the price of the Xenar's and that they also only cover S35 like the Xenar's, if that works for you, I think it is an excellent choice for entry level. The Sony glass matches extremely well from one lens to another, with very little CA, very sharp and very clean, maybe a little bit heavy, but nothing unreasonable. Extremely robust, excellent build quality. Minolta glass. Personally, I think the day Sony stops making them, that glass is only going to go up in value. On the other hand, if you are interested in large format such as 8K or vista vision, FF dslr's etc. then it wouldn't be the best choice. Like I said, they are like modern standard primes.

yes, very much it is pleasant to me as Xenar looks. You see, I want to buy the best lens to 8000 dollars for 1 piece and now I am in blank despair. I consider 25,35 and 75 mm or 80 mm. By the way about a covering 8k. I read on the website Phill Holland, the fact that the majority of numbers of Xenar cover a full shot 8k.

Not sure the 25 will cover in 8K. You will need to check that.

yes, 25 mm don't cover 8k. And 35 and 75 mm cover 8k. But I am stopped now only by the Weight of a lens and him is long. I don't know as I will stabilize him on my DJi Ronin. As Above I spoke, there was a thought to buy Xenon, it sharp with very good color, but his CA are awful. But, I saw comparison of the lenses Xenar and Xenon at Phil and have seen that 25 mm and 75 mm have almost no CA and identical in color with Xenar, and here on 35 mm they are awful. I can be mistaken? You wouldn't begin to look 25 and 75 from xenon aside?

So about the Cinealtas, I have been contemplating them. What is the quality like compared to Xenar's and Xenon? Bokeh, Breathing, Contrast, etc? Also if you could explain what "CA" stands for, that would be nice haha. In my research all I see is CA handling but not what the abbreviation means. Thanks!
