Checking interest for 4k Skyworth LED TV Group Buy

Also Allstar Cine is the one who shot the demo video for these 4k panels so maybe you can contact him as well.

Email sent to Tom (Allstar) and Perry

+1.

Any information on color accuracy?

Anyone ever viewed one in person?

Sorry if these questions have been answered. Skimmed the thread.

I contacted Zhang Ming, a Reduser who gave me this response I posted earlier. Also Allstar Cine is the one who shot the demo video for these 4k panels so maybe you can contact him as well.
Why do you know that? three weeks ago, I just finished DP work for the project making a demo movie for Skyworth 4K TV. It shots on EPIC with MP lenses.
I haven`t saw this TV in person, maybe they will send one to Taiwan to test the demo movie.
Skyworth isn`t the only one who makes 4K TV in China, because I will shoot another demo movie for other brand of 4K TV soon.

Hey Tom,
Your in this article that Zhang showed me: http://www.hd.club.tw/thread-113609-1-3.html

Yeah Hisense and LG both make 4k panels in China, but none of those said they would sell outside of China. Only Skyworth would. I think there may be another brand (Chimei-Innolux?) because of this photo: http://www.hd.club.tw/thread-112837-1-1.html

Not sure where you can get it though: http://www.chimei-innolux.com/opencms/cmo/products/lcd_tv/ccfl/products_lcd_ccfl_tv_V562D1.html?__locale=en

I can try to arrange for the test buddies!

I can try to arrange for the test buddies!

Hello All!

Hey Guys,
Just got word back from Skyworth and looks like they won't be able to do it. Here is their response:

"Dear Matt,

Sorry to reply you late because I had awful news from R&D department that they lack manpower to launch the development project for north American market until February of 2013, and that even a demand of 100 more sets couldn’t advance the schedule. I think I am not able to change this.

But I knew that Konka Group (www.konka.com ), the most powerful rival to Skyworth in China and a giant electronics enterprise group owned by China central government, actually announced their 4K UHDTV just 1 day earlier than Skyworth in August, this year, and I had one more contacts with one of their sales managers, named Seaborn. Do try to contact him. Konka could be your last chance in China market.

And I would like to tip you about the price released by that online shop for Skyworth’s 4K TV 50E780U at your provided link http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.10.32.XrHAFP&id=16533762467 , which already misled you. In fact, if you can read Chinese, you will find that online shop offers CNY8498.00 for FHD 1920X1280 TV, and there is another price CNY10999 for the 4K(3840×2160(4K×2K)) TV in the same webpage.

As for input voltage, AC220V is for China market. If any TV company wants to export their TV to USA, they will adapt their TV to the AC110V input voltage of USA. Don’t worry about this.

I will keep you posted on Skyworth’s progress on internationalization of the 4K TV in the future.

Good luck."

I have contacted the other company he suggested and am waiting to hear back from them. Hopefully one of these companies will come through.

Thanks for your efforts Matt. Hopefully, one of them will say yes.

I was wondering why skyworh not help to import the 4KTV...............

The truth is it's easier for them to deal with buyers that deal in container fills, like Walmart.
What they don't understand is that we would make the best ambassadors for promoting their product!

It's a big can of worms when manufacturers sell items in regions where there are distributors/dealers all ready set up. Manufactures sell a lot of volume to them and I can't imagine they would risk that relationship for even a couple hundred units.

I was wondering why skyworh not help to import the 4KTV...............

Probably because it makes little sense for them to import a handful of TV's that:

* Don't conform to our electrical standards.

* Don't have proper FCC and UL certifications.

* Don't have menus in English.

* Don't have properly formatted OTA signal tuners for North-American broadcasts and are probably region coded for digital/HD.

* They have no way to support the units once they're here.

* Will infringe on potential market for upcoming US-designated products.

* May not want to import through their official distribution channel, since these products are not approved and would probably be denied entry unless done on a small scale by a small entity or individual.

Yep it time for grey importers. :)

I agree that grey market solution might the only way to get a 4K panel at a reasonable price in the near term. However, my law degree tells me that Jeff's reasoning is probably correct.

If they realize how serious we all are about this, it might light a fire under them ... especially if we talk-up the virtues of their panels ... a lot word-of-mouth advertising by serious professional users.
