  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet's World Premiere... (BTS Video from SF)

So wheres the scarlet footage !!! have l missed somethings!
 
As has been said before there is none here, the title of the thread is a little misleading.

You guys are going to need to use the EPIC build of RCX to open this up.. Rocket support wont work and RCX is going to think its just 3K EPIC files so the color science isn't fine tuned in yet.. but it should give you plenty to play around with :)

Thanks for that, yes very miss leading in its title. Its like a world premier of Avatar, then only seeing the making of it film in SD, come on guys get real. They should have know better. Did apple show the wrapping paper of FCPX nope, a great presentation and a good working demo, so guys if you don't feel you can post the footage why post that you shot on it, its all just air otherwise.

Oh, fine.... I have just placed an artificial tear on my cheek for you (and me!). Does that make it better? Can we move on now?

BTW, feel free to jump in and do better than Jannard any time you want. I SWEAR I will buy your cameras if they are better, or of equal IQ and more affordable, or of equal IQ and available sooner.

Ketch, I think you misunderstand us a bit.. We all would like to have SOME of that footage taken with the Scarlet. That's it. :) A bit of that included in the video and we would most likely be quite happy. As it is now, I was waiting for the "real thing" the entire video..

But you and everyone else seems to have a nice time with both cameras and that at least looks great. :P

But yeah no footage form the Scarlet at this time, sorry.
 
Thanks for the video Joseph! It's good to see a working Scarlet in a field, and I'm more than satisfied with your personnel feedbacks! I don't complain about the footages, I will see a lot's of footage .. my own ones :D

Thanks man! I appreciate it. The past few weeks have been super busy. Shooting/Editing/Uploading/Flying has been non-stop. I was hoping to rest a bit in Vegas, but it's been even crazier. I managed to get the video uploaded late on Tuesday night (actually Wed morning, as it was 4:30 when it finally finished).

Unfortunately, it took me a whole week for me to finally finalize everything...and even then, I can't make everybody happy. I'm glad some of you are enjoying it. ;)

As far as working with the Scarlet, I have to say that after 3 years, I was expecting a lot from the Scarlet. How pleased I was to yet be more than impressed. The whole team has done a phenomenal job, and I can't wait for everyone to experience the same kind of fun RED has blessed me with, as of lately.

P.S. Welcome to the REDuser community. It truly begins to feel like a family. That can be good (and bad), but I look for the good (which is quite easy to find). :) i'm glad you and other like you are here, Gergo.

The issue is not a sense of entitlement.

There's post after post about how great these cameras are, but there's never proof. If the footage is as great as Red and all the Epic owners keep saying, why is hardly any being proudly shown off? We've gotten Curl Curl, Night, some great fashion stills from Jarred, and a disconcertingly noisy video of a lion.

haha there you go again joseph, I would like to take a moment and officially announce that i am the worlds most jealous person. I hate to admit it but i would kill to be in Joseph's shoes right now. Such an amazing journey you are having right now.

way to friggin go man. BTW... you can just ship that scarlet to 23172 68th..... haha

Joseph, were you able to play with different shutter/exposure combinations to see what kind of DOF you can achieve with the stock lens? That is probably one of the first things I'll try when/if I get my hands on one of those precious Scarlets.

I am not one who is a fanatic over "shallow DOF". That being said, I was happy to see what I saw. I'd like a bit more DOF than my Z1, but not as much as what the s35 chip offers. I find the 2/3" being the sweet spot for the majority of what I am doing now.
 
I didn't find this video was posted before or not! A nice close-up on the menu! I just noticed there is no REDmote on the videos, is there was a problem with that or you just don't get a REDmote for the tests?
