I gotta say.. it really pisses me off when I read people hijacking this thread and attacking Joseph over our delays etc... Leave the guy alone..

He doesn't work for RED and has nothing to do with Japan, delays, price increases, etc. etc. etc. Me and Jim leant him a Scarlet to have some fun with.. because he deserved it. Simple as that.

No ones picking a fight but it seems really odd there is no Scarlet footage. It would be like featuring a restaurant and not talking about the taste of the food. Or road testing a new car and not talking about how it drives. You have a working camera show some footage. Simple. Other wise is it any surprise that people deduce the release is way off or the camera has problems.

I agree. It's kinda selfish to show us how much you had fun with those awesome cams without sharing ANY footage with the RED community.

There's a lot of talented operators here who deserved also to see at least some footage.

Please also understand our frustration when we see a Scarlet "World Premiere video(the real premiere video was months ago during RED tour & few film festivals") with no Scarlet footage and at the same time, we hear that all these cams (EPIC-X & Scarlet) are postponed to an unknown time...

If I had the chance to test one of these cams, I'd put here all the R3D samples or if it was not possible, I'd say here that I was not allowed by RED to get the R3D files. I'd take also pics of the menus and write a full review here.

Seriously, Joseph was given an opportunity to take the scarlet for a test drive. It gives comfort to those who think that its a scam or the scarlet will never come to be. Red does NOT owe us anything.

Hey, that's not the point at all here. We're not in the recon forum. I'm not angry against RED & inevitable delays.

RED gave to only few people a great opportunity to test months before their release those new cams and we can only thank RED company for this.

This thread is only about people outside of the RED company who had that opportunity and the result (?) of that test drive. At least we could have a complete review ? No, nothing for us.

A lower profile video title and a disclaimer that clearly stated : "We were not allowed by RED company to release any video material from RED cams because of NDA, early firmware or whatever" would be preferable.

Joseph, the amount of aggression is indicative of the magnitude of scarlets potentially huge customer base and this tension is amplified by the years of delays. Its a two edged sword you have. A wiser approach would be to have BTS vids surface at the same time as footage that way it is less likely to be seen as an elitist "I have one first" video. You're a cool guy, young, and now moving amongst a whirlwind. Don't lose sight of your goals.

A complete review? As I understand it the firmware is not finished yet. If you made a film and let some friends view a rough cut you would be kind of pissed if they went online and posted a review and clips of the unfinished film, no? This is not really any different. When RED is ready to release more footage they will. If Joseph and Ketch could release the footage they shot they would have.

You see - this is the common problem here. " Most " of the time the original reply post to this thread is neither attacking RED, Joseph or Ketch nor hijacking it. It's the overzealous " FanBoy " that reply with one of those silver bullet phrases like " RED doesn't owe you anything " to a simple inquiry about the footage from that " Scarlet's World Premier ... BTS Video ". The natural reaction to such over used cliche comments turn the trailing posts to unrelated subjects.
The Scarlet journey was a historic one in the world of business and it will become one those milestones in the modern history. Although The level of involvement of the potential customers and members of this forum is truly insignificant in comparison to what the RED owners and the development team have expensed in existence of Scarlet - that comparison doesn't allow any one to consider your potential customers insignificant.

NAB 2011 came and gone and the masses that follow you ( not forcefully or delusional ) see This Scarlet World Premier title ... thing. Some ask questions and they get whipped with RED slogans in the capable hands of the seasoned RED members. If Joseph and RED only looking for admiration and congratulatory words, just say so - many will comply i am sure. That is happening on many subjects you post in this site and many reply with one or another kind of " Yes Sir " or a version of " Amen ", which is fine - as long as it's not expected all the time.

You may not like it but most everything with the RED title including this infamous BTS is attached to RED. Especially when at the heat of the NAB fever you put a SCARLET out to shoot the " Scarlet World Premier .... BTS video " and allow it to go on one the most visited video forums with that title. Yes those impatient questions and comments will be eventually directed to RED.
If something did go wrong and there will never be a footage then The Scarlet's World Premier will be remembered as a failed one.
May be it's the time we call in the Marketing Department to handle the hype creation and not a 19 year old member - although he has nearly 3K posts on this forum and i am sure he is a Masterful videographer and a wonderful young man madly in Love with the concept of RED.

i hope i am not going to get banished by questioning the creed. i will not going to reply to the unrelated FanBoys comments also to keep this focused on the subject.

i Guess you are having a tough time understanding the point here. Everybody including you are RED and Scarlet devotees. Nobody is Trolling. Stop regurgitating the cliche over used words that even the BIG guns of RED trying to distant themselves from and get somebody to explain these words to you :

- Nobody is claiming Joseph, Ketch, you or RED is owing anything to anybody. People are saying what happened to the footage of the " SCARLET WORLD PREMIER ... BTS ".
- What's the point of calling it the " SCARLET WORLD PREMIER ... BTS " in a the official public Scarlet forum on the RED website if you are / were NOT allowed to show the resulting footage.
- If you are shooting with an unfinished firmware Scarlet and your footage is not going to represent the Scarlet at it's evolutional " acceptable " optimum performance at this stage of it's life, why you are calling the event : SCARLET WORLD PREMIER ... BTS " ?
- The " SCARLET WORLD PREMIER ... BTS " was shot in the hands of hand picked shooters ( i hope ! ) on April 5th. C'mmon - we all know even our grandmas could've edited the clips by now. After all we are talking about " SCARLET WORLD PREMIER ... BTS ". it's not the holidays videos after all.
- If the SCARLET WORLD PREMIER ... BTS " was a failure, then just quietly remove the article from the forum and end the pain once and for all or go do a retake. i think we all have done that a couple times before.

Max, I will come out and say that you do make some good points while ranting on others,
however it intrigues me how you say "Ketch this Ketch That" and then go and say "Jarred Rocks - Joseph Rocks - RED Rocks"
right after, not that I need you to tell me that I also "ROCK" for a Handicap Man back form the Death, I think I "ROCK" just
by getting out of BAD every day, but curious... Do you have something against me in particular or have I done something to you directly?

I am a FilmMaker, which strongly believes inn giving and I do give at any given chance, and the BTS and the tour I personally
financed across America too visit various cities and showcase the Epic to friends new and old was one of my ways of sharing,
followed by the BTS videos and pictures in which I made sure Joseph, I and every one else tucked the time so that al of those
that were not there could enjoy, if I have not done in off please let me know and I will try to do more...

I say especially coming form a brand new Reduser, with just 7 posts... Either you are just Trolling, or have lot to learn
about manners when visiting some one's home...

I have watched this thread unfold for 12 pages and I have to admit. I just don't get it. You have an enthusiastic 19 year old kid who got the opportunity of a lifetime to shoot a camera that is somewhat legendary before it is even released. He was, quite understandably, completely and totally jazzed and he let that enthusiasm show through. As far as we know, he was the first "private citizen" to shoot Scarlet "in the wild" and was allowed to talk about it - even show video of himself doing it. He wanted to share as much of that experience as he was allowed to and he did. WTF is so terribly wrong with that? He posted it as BTS and now some people are bummed out because A) they didn't know what BTS meant? or, B) they misunderstood what was happening? What?

It shouldn't have taken a terribly long time to figure out what was going on as soon as you opened the thread. Are you angry because a few minutes of your valuable time was wasted? Are you embarrassed because you feel you were fooled into clicking on the thread? Are you jealous that someone else got to shoot Scarlet before you? You certainly can't get angry with Joseph for not showing you the footage as I am sure that was not his decision. And, frankly, I don't know how you can blame RED either since the very least of their considerations would be whether they want the first substantial footage from Scarlet to be under these conditions. They get enough criticism on this board for not "perfecting" their footage in post before posting lest someone get the wrong perception. As always, they can't win with some folks.

Like I said, I just don't get all the anger and criticism here. Ketch and Joseph are light-hearted, outgoing guys who like to share. What did they do that was so terribly wrong? :confused1:

This is actually a pretty nice thread. It's a farse, but still pretty nice.

The title is even correct: it's not Scarlet footage from the Scarlet's world premiere, but rather the Behind The Scenes of that event. Just like a behind the scenes isn't the actual movie, this isn't the actual footage.

Why don't we get footage? Because Scarlet isn't living up to RED's final specs at the moment. It possibly will though. Either that, or RED will lower their standards and release anyway—whatever comes first.

The funny thing is: current Scarlet footage probably blows most other cameras out of the water. I wonder what is not up to spec.

If the footage was good enough, releasing some (a minute of this and a minute of that) would certainly build the hype and momentum to easily bridge this last, final delay before release.

It's amazing how the camera landscape has changed since the first suggested launch date for Scarlet. It will be interesting to see what cameras are available when the day finally comes. Scarlet will probably have the resolution and frame rate upper hand. But I wonder what sensor and codec options will be available from other brands. Interchangeable lenes?

Well, this thread nicely sums up unchecked human behavior. Nothing strange. It's just how things goes.

I don't get it either! I have followed this forum for 2 years, rarely posting. Knowing that Ketch and Joseph were filming with the Scarlet, and expecting at some point that they would post BTS videos of that shoot also as they have faithfully done on each of their shoots on this tour, I understood what it was immediately when I saw it! As for Josephs' title and his obivous enthusiasm, I assure you if I (59yr old) was given the chance to do what he did, I am sure that I would not have posted any differently.

I try hard to find time and energy to share not only my knowledge but my endeavors and enthusiasm of directly using the gear,
however I know that some time I could come across as show off, and possibly offend, indirectly some one along the lines,
if and when I do so, I like to know so to extend my sincere apologies, very glad was not the case here...

Some of the Fanboys, do and say what they do and say because they love us, but I am sure they always mean well,
even so some times it can be taken out of context, its mostly all good.
