  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

Battery update: The Red Bricks work fine. The two third party ones (COMER and AXRTEC) do not.
thank you, so now we know the red bricks work and the hypercore slims do to.
it's too bad that there are compatibility issues at all though. hopefully we get more feedback from people.

Hi Guys,

Just thought i share. Ordered my Scarlet W on 27th February 2016 (Pretty late I know) and my bombsquad member mentioned that he is hopeful that my set will be allocated sometime next month (April) and shipment to be sent end of the month (presumingly April).

Looking forward to seeing more footages from those who've received their Scarlet!

If they are going to wait until the Scarlet orders are finished before shipping RAVENs, then maybe I should switch my RAVEN order over to Scarlet.

Hmmm... no, I think I'll just double down on RAVEN instead.

i dont think that will be the case, jarred said adamantly that raven will land on march 17th, we are all hoping the the first batch gets allocated that day!
it's soon!!! we know they are out there!

Will RED or a third party such as Wooden Camera come out with a cheap screw in piece that will cover the side port if we don't decide to use monitoring through that interface? I have a SmallHD 502 with sidefinder that I plan on using through the SDI jack from the base expander pack to monitor my camera, but I'd like to keep those pins covered on the side and top as they won't be in use. A simple piece of metal/plastic to cover those pins would be much appreciated. Thoughts?

gaff tape, cheap and readily available!

Haha. Yes, there is that!

Just wondering if there could be a more durable/permanent solution available for under $50 in the near future.

Thanks Melvin that's great to hear!
I ordered mine Feb 18th (late too) and my rep hasn't been able to give me anything in terms of estimates. Hopefully I'll get mine around the same time.
I'm totally fine waiting another month or two - the worst is just not knowing at all!

ive been talking about the same thing, it's needed. im really surprised red doesnt have this available. seems like a simple 3d print.

Yeah, I was actually going to mention 3D printing, too. I could probably whip up something small and simple.
do it!
what would be super cool is if someone could make custom plugs with your companies name on them :)

Hey Aiden, agreed.. I guess all we can do is to be patient and wait for Red to go through the transaction! There seem to be another thread that mentions there is some issue with Adobe Premiere as well.. hopefully it will all be sorted out by time ours gets allocated!

You know, I was just thinking about doing that!

I was thinking about red anodized aluminum with laser engraving. Could be a unique way to put your name/company on your RED. Was just gonna make a few for me and a couple colleagues but I could open it up to other REDusers if demand is there.

Other random ideas i've thought of:

Something useful that screws into the two M3 bolts on the left side, below the mini mag module.

Something simple that covers the mini mag port.

A case that carries a single mini mag (and an option for color coded plastic that lets you know if it's been exposed or not.)

Hey Melvin, Do you know which thread was talking about Adobe Premiere and a S-W issue?

Same with RED's FCPX plugin. It also didn't import the files.

One thing or another seems to have been changed that demands updated plugins.

It was me in the Adobe Premiere forum and I mentioned it in here.

Premiere doesn't recognize the R3D or ProRes files yet. Hopefully an update is coming soon.

Hi, thanks for giving us the heads up! Meanwhile, what are you editing the footages on? Have you tried DaVinci resolve 12 by any chance? I find it strange as Adobe has supported r3d files natively to my knowledge so far.

Would you be able to describe what happened when you tried importing the files ? It just simply refuses to read with an error message?

Adobe hasn't pushed out the updated Premiere Pro CC version to support Scarlet-W, Raven, and Weapon 8K just yet. It's been in beta and should be out soon. I'll fire off another email about it tomorrow.

Hey Phil, it's an honor to e meet you here in the forum. Have watched your latest video on YouTube, forged weapon! I'm truly impressed with your visuals!

May I enquire which program did you use to edit your video since you've mentioned that Adobe doesn't support the weapon 8K as of now.. And you've shot that awesome vid in 8K ! Really love to have your insights :)

Im sure Adobe will come up with an update soon too! Just hope is in time for most of us no doubt!
