  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet-W has Begun...

Super excited, just placed a deposit on my first RED camera, Scarlet-W I/O Package with 3 OLPF. Probably won't get allocated for quite a while, but the wait will be worth it.
 
I asked my rep if this was the case and didn't get a real yes or no. I have scarlet dragon #59, so my guess is it isn't based on serial as mine would have gone out already.

As for the Raven jumping ahead, Red likes to reward those who take the plunge / risk first. Look at the Weapons upgrade. Red gave those who paid for the upgrade at NAB 2015 a lower upgrade cost and the $5K accessories credit, which later upgraders did not get. The reason being, they wanted to rewards those who took the gamble early.

When I put down my Raven deposit, I had a feeling the Scarlet-W was coming and I figured I would just switch. I think Red is just rewarding those who took a chance early / early adapters. Raven and Scarlet are only $4000 in price difference so their space is somewhat shared and they are appealing to a similar demographic of user; so I think the approach Red took was fair.

If they did not take the path they took, Raven switchers would have been disgruntled. You can't make everyone happy so I guess it's just the way the cookie crumbles.

agreed, though one thing, raven preorders got priority on scarlet-w, but scarlet dragon got $2500 off the price. i personally would wait an extra couple of weeks for $2500 off, i think they go the better deal. again rewarding early adapters in that case as well. taking care of their own, i like it.
 
I finally got my scarlet-w powered on tonight by using my friends redvolt XL module that arrived with his weapon upgrade. JUST in the nick of time too.. Scarlet-w goes on set tomorrow

I have the opposite issue, sitting here with multiple 190w Anton Bauers, ET gold mount plate, Canon mount, and Mini-mags. If only I wasn't such a scarecrow right now...

Heh. I have a different problem. I have the camera, the vmount base and batteries but the batteries aren't working on it.

Workjng with Red support to solve.

Quick question, might not be the right place to ask, but as you were talking about batteries. I am looking at battery solutions for my eventual Scarlet-W. I have been browsing and reading everywhere, but am curious if any of you have tried "IndiPro Tools batteries" I saw them at BH and were well reviewed and pretty lightweight for what they offer. I could just bite the bullet and go for Switronix or something similar, but was just curious.

Has support tried any other batteries besides the red brick for compatibility? I am waiting for the V-lock and was hoping one of my current batteries (Sony or Blueshape) would work but if not need to order a red brick.

I understand that external power can work but the point is to make it work with the V-lock directly.

SW Mono "Brook" is in the house! Tomorrow she goes in the housing - Gates Underwater housing that is... Next week, Raja Ampat, Indonesia!!!

I have a set of slim hypercores ready to go and love them :)

Tried them on the Scarlet-W package at Red Studios and worked great. Plus they're about 3/4 - 1 inch shorter than the red bricks which gets less in the way of the handle.
