  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hello. I´ve following RED untill 2007. I´ve been owner of RED ones, and now Epic. I am a great fan of your attitude, and the entrepreneuship blood that run in your veins. I suppose praises are good for stimulate and keep on working so hard, but I suppose too that constructive criticism is the only way to real advance. I know you are the hardest criticist with yourselves, but here it is an attempt of opinion out of passion, awesomes, emotions and other usual internet-style feedback.

You sell cameras. You rock developing innovative cameras in stunning time process and at amazing low prizes. You know very well how to do it. But, finally, you construct and sell cameras.
And it´s a surprise, for me, that Scarlet, your baby camera, who has been waited for long time by many, has finally been launched without any footage feedback. At less, as I´ve known, only were posted a few footage in that forum few weeks ago. Sorry if I´m wrong.

You seel cameras. I don´t understand why people owns cameras in a blind way. Yeah, we know well the footage of RED, Epic, and Scarlet is nothing but an Epic downsized in features. Everything is crystal clear... but it´s a new camera.

I miss a lot that, in one of your most important days of your history -as you said-, a new camera is introduced without powerful footage in significant light situations. Is like present a car that can´t be driven, or show a cake without flavour. Nothing better than experience the product to sell. You made it before, with Red One. I prefer less forums, awesones, congratulations, and more about product functionality, basically capture images in a top-way. Yes, I know Internet compression sucks, but we all take decissions following Internet. And you communicate with the planet via Internet. As a marketing director, I prefer a website with substantial Scarlet footage than awesomes in a forum. Both things, if you wish, are compatible.

In addition, I´m really interested in the new Scarlet. But I understand that, after a looooong wait, many people is disssapointed, because RED finally made a downgraded Epic, that is everything you wish, except something new or revolutionary. Yes, product / prize balance is amazing, and here it is the revolution... but not in the product. I see the same product, with some different cosmetic and electronics and priceless, as you can buy a car with the same engine with different horse power, just changing electronics.

Just an opinion of a RED fan, who thinks that RED has changed the industry, and moved and breaked the traditional exclusive-slow-move-hard-prize cinema industry. I´m pleased because you´ve changed, basicly accelerated the democratization of that industry, ant it is priceless.

I can only speak for my personal experience. My Bomb Sqaud Rep is MONEY! Any issue I have he is all over it. Anything I need he is already on it!

i am Luca, (form Italy) this is my first post on Reduser...
I'm so excited by the scarlet-x. I've placed my order on 16/11 and I would also send the deposit (via credit card). But I'm still waiting for an email from the bomb squad (with details) ... for the first time a vendor is not anxious to be paid! (Sorry for my bad English). :wink5:

You wanna know something crazy? on the bolts for the right side of the Scarlet.. we couldn't find any stock bolts that looked right. So we made them ourselves. Every single one of those little bolts.. machined by RED. Most people would never notice.. but we do :)

2nd-day air to Denver for my EPIC-M was about $65. Just ship it.

If you pick up locally, you'll have to pay CA sales tax on the spot too.

Hmmm... in anticipation of the Scarlet I got myself a nice collection of these guys in multiple sizes (M3, M4, 1/4-20 etc). Just to stay stylish. And now you're telling me it comes with specially designed bolts. ;-)

A few ideas for Scarlet Support

A few ideas for Scarlet Support

Although the Scarlet turned out to be more to the full professional side, still more less experienced users will be appealed by the possibilities of the X. Therefore I would suggest some kind of support-plan:

  • RedCine-X package. For all not-yet-scarlet-users. Including footage clips and a strong and dynamic beginner's guide to using Cine-X. Ensuring (Red-)beginners to get to the most important cores of the file-, color and correction system. Even before the camera arrives.
  • A dynamic beginners guide to the camera system. App- and/or Web-based, with both text, pictures and video. Personaly I know how I would like that to be structured.
  • A variety of suggested camera packages in the Store at red.com. But by DIFFERENT experienced users. What would be Ketch Rossi's or Tonaci Tran's favorite rig og package for a certain type of task. With a list of accessories, a short explanation, and a calculated price. We simply need more guidance to compose the right entry-set up.
My God I look forward to work with this system / being a part of this Family ...

Since this is my first post: Hello everyone and sorry for my bad english

I've to say the Scarlet-x is a killer.
Some people may complain about the increased price of Scarlet-x and I've to admit it's hard on the limit for me.
I was sitting here at 2am (Germany) and was almost getting a heart attack when i "tried" to order Scarlet-x
After I got the conformation mail from email I became dizzy, went outside and vomited.
I just never spent so much money on a cam and started thinking if I invested in the right place.
BUT after I told my clients about Scarlet-x, they were so excited and are willing to pay more for better quality.

Now I'm just waiting to give you my money.

Hallo Manfred, happy to read another Red costumer here in Germany, so we can take contact to exchange our opinion about Red products.
I also order my Scarlet kit + Redmag cards to use with my prefered Canon EF lens like 16-35L 24-70L 50L 100L macro 70-200L II 2.8 ecc....
This is my first experience with Red and if I found positive, I will in shortly buy one Epic.
