You wanna know something crazy? on the bolts for the right side of the Scarlet.. we couldn't find any stock bolts that looked right. So we made them ourselves. Every single one of those little bolts.. machined by RED. Most people would never notice.. but we do![]()
Hello all.
Is there any truth in Philip Bloom's statement that the 3K and 2K resolutions are too noisy and blocky, due to the cropping, and therefore unusable?
Cheers
...But I'm pretty sure the blocky part of that is wrong.

If you scale down a 4K image to match your 2K crop version, and put them side by side, the noise on the 2K image will be more apparent since the "grain structure" is two times bigger than a 4K file scaled down. Is it "too noisy"? I think it depends on how you intend to use it. You can try it with the R3D Tonaci posted, go in RedCine Pro X, in the Frame menu, and do a center crop at 2K of resolution, 2048 x 1080.
It just occurred to me that Scarlet may not be 3k for $3k, but it is 5k for $6k if you subtract the accessories included with the brain for $9750. Or you could consider that 5k is 3x the resolution of 3k and $9k for the body is 3x $3k![]()
agree.. my overall favorite lens of all time. Having Autofocus and Stabilization work with it on Scarlet ( and Epic ) is an incredibly combination.
heh heh i'm not sure if where Scarlet and I are right now legally counts as being in a test lab.... but It should.
