  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Everything we have been waiting for since they first announced the Scarlet way back in 08. Placed my order. Glad to be on the RED team. FINALLY!!! Thank you Jim!

I have to admit, i'm over the planned budget now, but its totally worth it. :)

if it was the same then they would be the same, but we still want to see scarlet footage not epic footage, because at the end of the day they are 2 totally different cameras sorry but that is how we feel no disrespect we luv u all=)

It is the same camera essentially with frame rates cut back. The sensor and DR are the same.

Congrats RED, you are truly amazing (but we already knew that now didn't we :yes nod:)

One question though... if you shoot at, say, 14:1, can you still get 3K or even 2K at 120 FPS?

Im still reeling from the fact that i can have a 4k camera shooting for 15 grand. and the icing on the cake- 5k stills? Really Red Really? How the hell did u pull that off. The only thing that disappoints me is that 120fps is gone. - I cant imagine tho how brutal that is to work So SO hard on the fixed scarlet only for it to be overrun right at the finish line.

am i right in saying this is essentially the Epic S?
 
finally got the order through.. only been waiting 20 years so another month or 2 wont be so bad ( lying through his teeth ;)
 
Geez, forget the Canon non starter, the Scarlet X just blew by the Sony F3 for price/performance.Now I have less than 60 days to get my sh#t together. Glad I left my original 1K deposit with Red. That will help.
 
Can some one please tell me what the Red One (over 10k more) does , that the scarlet x does not?
 
WOW! Lots of people predicted (myself included) similar specs, but really, I don't think anybody thought that HDRx would be included (though not useful for 4k motion till later).

I'm bowled over! It really is an Epic Light. I wonder how many orders will be placed in the next 48 hours!

I almost feel sorry for poor Canon. And Alexa...
