  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Scarlet (and shipping) announcement Nov. 3rd...

Jarred just said that you will be able to place an order for a SCARLET at 7pm on November 3rd. Things just got really real!
 
How about a charity raffle for the first Scarlet (or several) to be shipped to the general public. I'm sure there are internal buyers and "friendlies" who get first dibs. But, after those.

Proceeds go to RED's preferred recipient. (How about a worthy, struggling film maker on kickstarter.com?)

At order checkout, click an option box to add $5/$10 on top of the body/package price. The winner gets the first one out the door?

Would be fun to monetize all this pent up demand and goodwill, towards some good juju.
 
Ok, Time for wild speculation!

What do you guys think the price point of 8x fixed scarlet will be with what basic features... (assuming there still is a fixed scarlet).

I'm thinking 7k with the previous listed ones....

or 5k with no redmote and missing something else...
 
Well this might be a shot in the dark, I don't want to know the exact price, but will 10K be enough to pretty much get you rolling? Hot or Cold? I know its a off the wall question, just trying to prepare myself...

I think it's actually nice they let us know something is "on it's way" a couple months in advance as we can get our ducks in a row. I'd say prepare for the worst and if you have $$$$ left over look at some accessories to assist with your workflow.

Here's my mindset, and I'm completely in the dark just like you. This excluding the body itself. I'm hoping for a Scarlet Canon EF mount. Scarlet batteries, depending on performance, maybe up to 5 of them. If Scarlet records to SSD, likely one to three of those. Depending on size and form factor I'm saving a bit for a baseplate of some sort to rig up from. I'm also conscious of the fact they may release several sensor sizes as perhaps modules.

Basically between now and November I'm eating rice and taking on weird gigs :)

I figured as much. Luckily...besides my wedding/honeymoon in mid October (eating alot of money there) I have work all the way up until Nov 3rd. I really just want to make sure my ducks and amount are in hand prior to the 3rd so I'm not scrambling to pull it together in case it does end up being more...haha I have other things I need as well, outside the camera and movie world...just trying to get a hint and budget accordingly ;). Patience I need to learn.

6pm the announcement. 7pm store doors open. Who knows, but it seems like it's gonna have to be a simple package. You like it, go for it. If you need to think about it, feel free to go to the back of a veeeery long line :-)
 
Well, maybe I'll go from being a RED user to a RED owner this year after all. My buddy is a DP and I've been working with him and his RED One (soon to be an Epic X) for the last two years, so I've never needed to be an owner. But if the price on this bad boy is right, I may finally join the club! It would be a great B-camera to bring out on shoots with the Epic. Looking forward to Nov. 3rd!
 
I think that's the first time in my life that I've decided to buy something, without knowing what it is (what the specs are) and how much it's gonna cost ... :-)

Never thought of that. Totally of of character for me to not fully scrutinize something before buying it. But hey, look at the R1 and the Epic, this surely wont be a bad purchase, whatever the price may be (within reason)!
 
Hooray for the soon-to-be Scarlet owners. I hope this date is also the one when Epic-X is open to all.

Edit: I'm finally caught up on this Red Carpet vs RED Forum event on Nov 3rd. Guess which side I'm rooting for... ;)

What if, as far as Canon is concerned, this is simply about Ron Howard's Imagi8ion project and nothing to do with a camera? Or does RED know something we don't about what's coming from Canon on Nov 3rd?
