Scarlet and Epic bag - 2013 edition

I'd also highly recommend the Airport Accelerator v2:

Here are some demo videos on youtube:

I can fit my rigged out Scarlet, 5d mark III, lenses, 15" mac laptop and a lot of accessories in there no problem. The zipper pockets are also great for smaller items. Like the reviews express, you can pack a ton of stuff in. My only concern is that when the bag is jam packed with gear it might become too heavy for the straps to handle. No sign of tearing yet, though, so I doubt it's a problem.

I also have a lazer cut Pelican 1510 travel case with top mesh pockets which is great and can be carried onto a plane. But not always the right choice for light weight traveling/remote jobs.

From those pics I don't see how that can fit a Scarlet with baseplate/riser plus LCD attached. Let alone a mattebox. What sort of configuration do you have your Scarlet in?

Hey Ben. In the bag I can carry a built Scarlet with the following configuration: brain, side handle, baseplate, lens, AB battery plate and battery, and the Red touch screen.

You wouldn't be able to have a matte box or shoulder rig attached (just reread your original post). If that's a deal breaker then this bag is probably not the one for you. But it is a great bag if you're OK with needing just a few minutes to add those things on when you get to set.

Try the Bolt. I got a Lowepro Pro Trekker 600 AW...but I don't think is good for carry on...very good for rough weather and nature photography...a lot of space...still not enough for everything...good luck!

I've traveled all over the world with the Satori F-Stop backpack. It fits in most overheads and will fit under seat. I've never been turned down. If one was turned down at the gate you can take out the ICU and put it in the overhead so you gear does not have to go with luggage.

Lowepro Magnum DV 4000 carries a fully ready to rock Scarlet (Sans battery). Fits airline standard for carry-on as well.

You could fit a battery attached to the camera in the bag but it'll be a tight squeeze. I don't like carrying my camera with power attached.

Thanks Michael. Probably IS a dealbreaker though :)

The Bolt?

I can't tell from the picture, but does the bag fully close with the top handle attached? (2nd picture) Also, that's the think tank?

I know Ben its ensecure and im not using it like this :D just wanted to show you ll fit 2-3 Epic body and other parts at the same time.i organize it for one rigged body and few pl lenses (panchros) with pads/ dividers.imho Thinktank Airport V 2.0 is the best bag (wheelie) that money can buy.Lowepro 450 Aw is more indie solution Epic/Scarlet body plus some photo lenses ,it ll fit everything you ll need :)

I use my 450 as my DSLR + Lens bag and it is a great value for money choice. Sadly though I need something where I can be shooting in seconds after taking the camera out of the bag :(

Bag is a Lowepro PRO RUNNER 450 AW BACKPACK

Inside:

Epic- X w/ x Side handle, top plate, swat rail, and cold shoe.
Touch Screen
Side Handle
RedMote
Sliding Top Handle
AC Adaptor
12 Redvolts
Canon 70-200
Canon 24-70
2x 256 SSDs
Hoodman 5.6
Sennheiser ME66
XLR Cables/Adaptors
2x EW100 Wireless Lavs
25' Ft XLR Cable
Tiffen Screw-in Filter Kit
Allen Wrench Kit

Probably still room to fit a few more accs in this bag. It's like a bottomless pit. :ihih:

I've gotten this through airport security countless times. I've also easily been able to swap out the redvolts for 3 full sized red Bricks and my V-mount backpack. I'm also able to fit a Red Gunner in here (not pictured) and 2 Wireless Lav kits. This bag is seriously like a Mary Poppins bag.

Oh it's a great bag alright, but sadly, the Scarlet isn't fully assembled. The Peli 1510 is perfect for flights and the like for me.

Amazing that there's not that many options. I guess the Scarlet/epic is pretty tall with the LCD mounted on top and pretty wide with it mounted off the side.

The key is building your kit with lots of quick release goodies so it can go together in under 3 minutes ;) I can put my camera together like Forest Gump assembles a rifle!

I'm on the same boat, Ben. I'll be flying around, but when I'm on the ground for my work, I would have to transport a ready-to-shoot Scarlet from various locations doing run-n-gun filming. Now I'm thinking maybe I should just pack a rig back in my checked luggage and use that for on-location.
