  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RPPs

Beautiful

Beautiful

The RPPs look beautiful, and with the next lenses (still too come) they would provide a complete set with a diagonal 32mm target, a decent T1.8 stop. Congratulations, just like President Obama, you guys have a lot of balls in the air, all at once!

Alternate set

Alternate set

RED Pro Primes (RPPs)

5 lens set- $19K
(25mm T1.8, 35mm T1.8, 50mm T1.8, 85mm T1.8, 100mm T1.8)

6 lens set (adds 300mm)- $23K.

Anyone who buys a "set" gets all future RPPs at the "set price" for that lens. Not all future lenses will be the same price.

Individual lens prices are as follows:

25mm, 35mm, 50mm, 85mm and 100mm- $4250
300mm- $5975K
18-85mm T2.9 Pro Zoom- $9975K
18mm T1.8 (in rapid development)- $3800 (set price) and $4250 individual price

Other lenses are under development are a 14mm, a 21mm, and a 65mm.

Why not a 4 lens set without the 100mm for $15,000?

You'd have more customers.

I would rather have a set with the under-development 14mm (if T1.8, otherwise 18mm), 25mm, 50mm, 100mm.
That would be enough for me.
I need great coverage and speed.
Tight and dark spaces...

both :)

they are engraved then the engravings paint-filled.

Right, question for all that have paid their deposits through the store. How did you do it? I'm trying to pay it via credit card and the system keeps on saying noooo as it's more than $7500, and of course i am only wanting to pay the darn deposit of $1900.

Never mind, I just confirmed that for myself. However, my understanding of the consequences of the smaller image circle needs to be double checked.

A lens casting a 32mm image circle on a S35 imager should give you similar depth of field characteristics as a 35mm lens casting an image circle on a 35mm imager. Correct?

how will these work as it relates to different sensor sizes of the current upcoming red cameras

The key question.

Ideally I would want the Monstro chip with it's greater DR. The latest information leads me to believe I will shoot 5K, but not 6K.

So will the RPP cover 5K of the Monstro sensor? With it's larger size and pixel size, what is the image circle required for 5K on Monstro?

Based on recent comments and some numbers posted way back with the initial Scarlet / Epic announcments, the RPP's should cover about 4.5~4.7K on the FF35 monstro sensor. Still nothing to sneeze at!!! And if the mount swapping is as easy as claimed with auto back-focus adjustments, then switching over to RED electronic lenses or Nikon, etc... for FF35 coverage up to 6K should be no big deal.

EDIT> Jim also stated before that the 300mm will cover FF35 or full 6K Monstro.

Jeff... I think you are about right. Actually, a few of the RPPs will go out well past 32mm but shooting 4.75K will be the safe way with Monstro. Then, the question will be is it better to shoot 4.75K with no breathing or 5K with a still lens?

Given the same field of view, angle of view, aspect ratio, and aperture, then yes, it will give you the same depth of field.

In what aspects will Monstro be able to shoot 4.75K ? (I know the specs will change!)
