Agreed. I hear from folks in the Industry that RU has basically become an online Classified Ad host.
Suggest a new tab at the top, next to "New Posts"…
Titled "New Classified" or "New Marketplace"

Satisfies the needs of both camps.
To me it looks like a maturing of the "Obsolescence is Obsolete" marketplace as veteran users upgrade and new users are brought in. I'm still wondering if there'll ever be a better deal than the BT 4K RED ONE MX's.This has crossed my mind too. It looks like too many reducers are trying to dump their equipment. reducer shouldn't look like a fire sale.

Phil is the MAN!! That said - he is waaaaay underutilized because there is no organized way to access the amazing work he does. RED needs to have a dedicated Director of Ed that takes the pearls that guys like Phil drops off in their posts and turn it into organized online Educational Content via a Vimeo channel. Better yet . . . model RED Online Ed after my friends site over at Lynda.com. I said this a couple years ago: I would pay a monthly subscription fee to have Phil quality content transformed through a Lynda like delivery. Then we all could access the information we need quickly and education becomes a revenue stream for RED thereby funding better content.
Education is the key to everything on this planet . . . including insuring RED continued growth
I'm definitely in agreement about separating marketplace postings from the new posts filter and also from the general search functionality. I think search on this site needs a serious overhaul anyway. VBulletin search is dreadfully awful, seems many forums have replaced with a Google-based search module. From a moderator perspective, I need to look at it all anyway, or as much of it as us moderators can. But from a general user perspective, I would love to keep the marketplace and the rest of the forums separate for both post/ thread filtering and for search purposes.
First. Thank you.
Second. Interesting. I might do something a bit more "organized". It's been on my mind lately.
Seriously ... I couldn't bring myself to read much of Harry's thread but it takes quite a bit to be exiled from reduser.

Complaint might be a bit strong. Let’s just call it a suggestion.
I frequent reducer everyday. The first thing I do is click on New Posts to see what is trending. It seems that, over the last year or so, the topic you are most likely to see are the want ads. Want to sell, want to buy. Don’t get me wrong. I have no problems with people wanting to make a buck or save a buck. I’m just wondering if there is a way to exclude the marketplace threads from the New Posts. If I want to buy or sell something, I know where to go.
It would just be nice to see the threads that help educate the masses rather than enrich the few.
OK. End of rant. Just my 2 cents.
Or maybe a single thread that automatically shows up as the first new post all the time. Every FS or WTB post is contained within that one thread. Not saying it's the best way to solve the issue, but maybe it's the easiest way?1000% Agree. Drives me nuts.
I live by the "New Posts" button - and somedays you have to hunt for the good info if there are tons of FS posts.
I love that you can buy and sell stuff on RU - I have bought and sold stuff here and I think it's great that it's allowed -
Just filter out the FS threads from the New Posts button and everybody wins![]()
