REDucation

[Steve Freebairn]

I've said it once and will say it again, REDUCATION is worth every penny (we made it back in spades) and Michael Cioni and Steve Freebairn are fantastic instructors and bring a lot of energy, laughs and tons of CANDY!

Thanks for the shout out Tim. In all honesty, what makes REDucation great is how much energy and desire to learn the students have. So far every REDucation has had amazing students from around the world that have been way excited about learning and sharing best practices.

I think this upcoming session will be the best yet!

Seeing how all the REDucation events are booked up excepting the one in Vegas, are there any plans for making any further REDucation events here in Europe?

[Jarred Land]

Ted is working on some international expansion options for REDucation... stay tuned

As the guy that made the DVD for the RED One, I can tell you that doing it right is a very long and difficult process. The DVD is almost a year old, and it's still 90% relevant, but a lot has changed.

We have another DVD in the pipes that will be announced at NAB, but the truth is that there is some subject matter that we are reluctant to mess with, POST being the most obvious. To be worth doing, the DVD needs to have a shelf life of at least 6 months, and that is hard to do where RED is concerned.

We have looked at On-Line videos to keep things moving better, and perhaps some day we'll do it. But for now, we're going to stay with the DVDs.

Was a great class...

Was a great class...

REDucation Vegas was a fantastic amount of fun! In addition to running all over the Tropicana hotel all week shooting both MX RED ONE and original RED ONE and then viewing "instant dailies" on the IGI 4k power window via the RedRocket card in a Mac Pro (4k screening and technical learning review of the students footage is one of the highlights of the class in my opinion) We had lots of great learning from the staff, (and some serious mac computing power in that room as well)

Thanks to all the students, the teaching staff, the logistics and organizing staff that created a wonderful environment to learn RED...

Ted - Can't thank you enough for all the work you and the team did to make Reducation a success. I came in with what I thought was a lot of Red knowledge and left with a completely new understanding of the Red camera, its capabilities, work-flow and future. The presentations, demos and hands-on work really tied everything together. These are exciting times.

Great Job!

Can't wait for September in New York....I have already paid, just hope it is as good as this REDUCATION, and how about if in Setember we will be doing the same stuff but with EPIC as well????

Well worth the money

Well worth the money

Ted,
REDucation in Vegas was an amazing experience. I really appreciate you guys putting together something like this. It allowed me to meet new friends and network in the RED community. From start to finish, I learned vast amounts of information and was given insight to what our camera can really do. I learned in 5 days, what would have taken me 6 months of field work. Hopefully our paths will cross again.

Best,
Chris Rodriguez

Sorry if there was a discussion about this, but when is the next Reducation except the September one in NY?

Hi Everyone,

Finally getting caught up and thought I'd post some photos taken from the REDucation Vegas class (Serial #004).

This was the best one yet! It was great meeting everyone and as one of the teachers, I learned just as much as the students. It's great to be able to give back to a community that has all come together to help make RED what it is today.

A huge thank you to Ted, Michael, Steve, Mark, Von, Dino, all of the Createsphere staff, the Tropicana Hotel, and, of course, all of the students!

Take care,

~ Casey

OK Casey,

I'm feeling better now...

There were no pictures of Von, and how could you have a Reducation without Von?

Great pix Casey! Really captures the fun and comradery of REDucation. Was a really rewarding week to see all the students dive in to the RED pool and come out the other end really knowing their stuff!
