  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Redrock microMatteBox shipping news

I'm trying to figure out how the Redrock matte box would work if you're using both 15mm and 19mm rods? Maybe much longer 15mm rails. Or longer 19mm rails and then use the Redrock 19mm kit?

Here are Redrock 15mm rails and a Redrock follow focus with the 19mm Red rails and the Red 15mm rod adapter. (Note that the Redrock follow focus, which I really quite like, needs to have some other mechanism for tightening the wing nuts, because they bump the Red's rails. We're just using nuts right now, but it's not as convenient. Redrock might offer up some kind of ratcheting wing-nut soon?)

I saw a setup from some of the 4k ninjas at HD Expo. What worked for them is using very short 15mm rods.

Also FYI we have a drive gear upgrade in the works that will make the microFF an improved fit with Red

It is a redesigned drive gear that is larger and can be placed closer to the gearbox so you can easily clear the lens mount prongs (what is their real name?) and it will also reach smaller diameter lenses such as some of the smallish zeiss superspeeds.

I asked this on the Red Rock Forum, So basically its $100 more for the 19mm option instead of 15mm? Is there any other reason for the $100 difference?

we have ordered the microMatteBox Red One Bundle
will the 4x4”/4x5.65” filter trays in the bundle work with the Red 18-50 len as the element Front Diameter is 4.5 inches

It's a smaller quantity we are building, so we essentially have to hand make these. The cost is a little more but still a great deal - nothing even close out there in price and features.

Brian, thanks a lot for listening to the feedback on the forum. The new Red One Bundle with the case and a couple of extra 4x5.65” filter trays is exactly what I need.

I am among the first reservation holders. Could you update us on what the exact procedure will be to place our order including the accessories? (And not getting lost in all the NAB chaos that will be going on :) )
