  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Redrock microMatteBox shipping news

By the NAB time there will be about 2000 Reds out there...
 
Just read over on the redrock forum, looks like Brian will be making an announcement sometime this week.

That's why I've faithfully waited for it (although I've sometimes bitten my nails from the frustration). Can you advise about microMatteBox Deluxe Bundle $695. I want to use it with REDONE with RED 15mm Adaptor. Am I on right track or is $995 option a must for REDONE.

Hi Joon

The Red bundle is specifically for the 19mm native rod support. If you want just 15mm/60mm center to center rods, the deluxe bundle is great.

Hey Brian, The RED Bundle doesn't mention French Flags or Side Wings. Was that simply an oversight, or are they not included in the bundle?

Hey Brian, what if we don't NEED the 15mm support because we are only running on the RED. I was thinking in the past that the 15mm screws off and you screw the 19mm on, or is there something that's changed/missing? Basically, I am asking can we get the deluxe kit with JUST the 19mm support, or do we HAVE to get the RED kit to work on the RED?

Same question here. Can I get the deluxe bundle with just the 19mm arm instead of the 15mm. Why would that cause a jump in price? Isn't it essentially the same part with slightly bigger holes in it (and different offset, etc... but you get the point)?

Also, any hints on pricing of additional/larger stages? I know it'll be announced at NAB, but I'm just trying to get a budget in my head for the complete kit.

Hi guys

The Red bundle is based in part on feedback we received from everyone here at reduser.net, specifically that everyone preferred a native 19mm rod solution rather than an adapter. That's what we are offering. For now the 19mm is in lower quantities which means we make them through a different process that results in a higher cost. We included the 15mm rod support since most folks who provided input requested that.

We don't have any announced details on pricing for other components, and as you pointed out we will have all that info ready at NAB

Thanks for the info Brian. I still don't understand why you won't offer a 19mm only option. I don't need the 15mm arm, so I don't really want to have to pay for it when it will just sit on the shelf. I understand that the 19mm arms cost more to manufacture, so couldn't you just offer a 19mm only setup and have the price reflect that difference? I'm not trying to be difficult. I just don't want to have to buy gear that I won't be using.
 
Hi again perisrem - I understand your request. We have to make some choices to keep the options simple, and not to increase our costs in other areas, so we went with the bundles we felt best represented what most folks requested.

I think people are starting to complain, because there is no single possibility to buy 19mm support w/o the 15mm support. With the current bundles, MOST of us are forced to buy the 15mm support without a use for it.

I remember some people wanted to have 19mm AND 15mm support, but RED is 19mm primary and 15mm just with an upgrade. Why did you decide different?

I would be very happy to have the Redrock-RED-bundle include 19mm only (like the RED Basic-Production Pack) and have an upgrade-possibility to 15mm (like the RED-ET-15mm support).
