  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDLINK APP now in ITUNES Store

Has anyone tested range in ad-hoc mode? Considering wifi does pretty well through walls and stuff, I am hoping for 50-100ft of solid connection and 100 yards LOS.

Fuck 100ft., If you have an internet connection you could control it from across the planet. :-)

if you have trouble reaching the distance you need though, just add another access point as a signal repeater.

My REDLINK is still on the way fromFedEx, but I prepared RIG. I also added to the configuration myWiMax router.

I LOVE the Redlink idea.. And I will be excited to buy one as soon as it's no longer required to be on the end of the chain.. Can't work without my V-mounts.

:)

+1 on that. Although I've just received one to see what it can be useful for as it is now.

Would love to buy one but no way to mount - v mount in the way

How's the range and reliability of the Red Bridge. Never have had much luck with the Redmote and would love to have a solid solution to control the camera wirelessly say from 50'. I'm hoping the external antenna will help.

Hi Trent, thank you for your information ... is there any guide how to start this included iphone app ... i got the redlink and usb right here but only a iphone and no ipad. I saw you guys using the iphone in the product video so why not putting it up on the app store ?

Flo, Trent may reply too but in the meantime... the app is iPad only. REDLINK Bridge dev kit comes with a demo iPhone app that you can build using xcode and install if you have a iOS developer account with Apple but it is just an example app so does not have the same features of the released iPad app... But hopefully in the coming weeks some iPhone solutions will be made available by 3rd party developers.

Tech specs says approx 50 feet... Haven't tested yet long range myself but I understand the antenna is interchangeable and pretty common format so you could maybe extend it further with a stronger one.

Sooo what's this app/redlink set up do that the Redmote can't?

The REDmote uses the same REDLINK protocol, that is, it has access to the same commands/status. It just uses a different wireless communication technology. What it really breaks down to is: form factor, allowing third parties to provide custom solutions/work flows, network infrastructure, etc.

Practically there are several differences between the current REDmote and REDs iPad app. On the REDmote every slot is user assignable and presented as a list. On the iPad we have lists, sliders, and curve controls. We also have playback controls. Also, in the latest update pending approval we have better focus controls and the ability to import/export RMD look files.

So just to make sure that I'm understanding this, you are not able to connect with the camera from your android phone directly without some other hardware, is that correct?

You basically need a router?
