  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDcolor3 and REDgamma3...

Hmmm...
MILK GIRLS or DRAGSTER
Which will it be?
David

Im hoping for Dragster, I remember well the before/after effects of colour science "of old".
The white dragster and coloured stickers was a good subject.
Also faces had intense shadows in the piercing sun.

I think when i get my Scarlet i should use RC2/RG2 for a few weeks to be able to really appreciate what has been done with RC3/RG3. ;)
Can't wait to see samples.

I haven't been this excited about a release since Build 16 for the RED ONE...

Jim

And Build 16 was like waking up from a long sleep fresh and clear so those're some powerful words...So Stoked for this!!!!!

I should just be both.
Those images are burned into the red memory.

An r3d snapshot of each would be great with the new release.

:)

Can't wait....

Can't wait....

Great :)

Hm..., 12 cameras to upgrade. Better start to warm up.

Would love to have the milk girls and the dragster as R3D to see for myself how awesome the big #3 is :)

There will be a new camera firmware build, with a corresponding REDCINE-X Pro build, that introduces REDcolor3 and REDgamma3.

You will want to upgrade to these. Trust me.

Graeme has worked his magic to squeeze out a major improvement in the camera monitoring path for color space and gamma.

REDCINE-X Pro will support this improvement and the SDK will be released to our partners so they can update accordingly.

To say this one is significant would be an understatement.

Look for this in the next week or so. And smile when you open new or old footage with it. The beauty of RAW is that improvements like this apply to everything you have ever shot on RED.

Jim

How come there is so much improvement Jim, these things normally come to maturity, is it fine tuning the sensor?

Sweet!

Got to say that working with these Gamma look applications provide a great view for the client as well as positive results for media capture on set as potential offline content and even online media on projects that don't require or have budget to inline with RAW media!

Clients have been amazed that this is just the low resolution footage and it looks pretty great without any one-lighting etc. Looking forward to Gamma3, and thanks for your continual support of this awesome product.

Below is a recent frame grab that I think shows off your EPIC-X sensor... amazing job in immense detail throughout the exposure range... maby 14 stops? I thought the sky's and range there was spectacular. Thanks for that! These are dumbed down for web.

Be Well,
