  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Professional Build 35 Beta

Is there a there away to expand multishot still clips to see individual thumbnails of all the stills in the file?

Paul,

What's the source resolution? In your previous post you said you were monitoring 5K clips. Unless your source resolution is 3840x2160 with the viewer set to Full Debayer, and your monitor resolution is 3840x2160, the scaler will be invoked to match the output resolution of the monitor.

Source resolution is 3840x2160 with the viewer set to Full Debayer, and monitor resolution is at 3840x2160. I get 7-9 fps no matter what level of Debayer: full or 1/16th.

Is it just me or did Rocket-X get yet another bigass performance boost?

Thanks for looking into the Decklink problem Grant, I believe the older blackmagic sdk is the problem, EasyDCPplayer+ had the same no 4k output issue, easydcp updated something and now it outputs 4k DCI.

I've verified this is indeed an issue with the DesktopVideo 10.4 drivers. For some reason the driver is saying those modes aren't supported when using 8- or 10-bit RGB pixel types. If you switch to using either 8-Bit or 10-Bit YUV in your video out settings, all of the modes show up as available. Just note that they won't show up until you save and close the preferences, and reopen them. I just fixed that issue internally and the resolution list will update when pixel types change in the next RCX release.

Paul,

As I stated before, using debayers other than FULL in this SDI monitor out case won't help speed things up as it's targeting an output resolution of 3840x2160. Decoding at half would output 1920x1080 which would then need to be upscaled to 3840x2160.

When transcoding a project with 80 6KHD clips and the most recent drivers/firmware for Rocket-X and DNx36 1080 transcodes RC-X35 crashes a few clips in constantly. had to install previous release build and it worked fine.

That was MBPro with a GRaid Studio-XL attached via Tbolt.

Jason,

Please go to the help menu and do "Save Report..." and "Save System Information..." and send the two zip files to redcinex at red dot com.

Thanks.

Will do, will have to re-install the beta35 and let it crash and then send log no?

Switching to 10bit YUV and saving preferences worked, have UHD/24 output now on the decklink 12G. Thanks!

Problem - UHD only, missing 4k DCI, and missing 59.94/60P UHD - only 23.98/24/25 showing.

I can output UHD and DCI 4k at 10bit RGB from EasyDCP Player+ and Resolve using the 10.4 driver, it was a big change from the previous driver so maybe the calls are different.

Chris,

Those resolutions will be available for DeckLink in the next update of REDCINE-X. Only UHD 23.98/24/25 were supported in the older DeckLink SDK used when Build 35 Beta was released.

And Chris, for the rest of the issues you're running into, can you contact us at redcinex at red dot com

We'd like to get a little more info from you.

Thanks.

Hi Viktor,

Thanks for the info -- we'll take a look at this behavior change. In the meantime you can get a framing preset with crop disabled and apply it to your clips.

Thanks,
David

With the release build 35 CDL values now go in the RMD. You can also enter slope, power, offset, and saturation individually or just load from a file. Let us know how it's working for you!

Thanks,
David

Yeah ... this build of RXC is pretty sick. Finally getting a change to kick the tires after NAB mayhem.

The ONLY thing I can think of that I want that is still missing - is the ability to change raw parameters separately on HDRx A and X frames - instead of one set of RAW parameters that process both HDRx exposures. And CDL values need to go to RMD, of course.

But BRAVO to Rob's team - lots of awesomeness in this build.

I stopped using the beta because of this crash, and now it's doing it in the release build. All I'm doing is opening up a video, putting it at Full res, switching it to full screen by pressing CTRL + F, and watching the video. If it doesn't have any video in the buffer, and I hit ESC, it crashes. (such as moving the location of the play marker to a location that has not been loaded, then hitting ESC). If it does get some video in the buffer, it doesn't crash. While writing this, it does it with any any res.. This is with no added effects on the video either. So I have to be EXTRA careful to make sure that there's video in the buffer to avoid crashing... kind of slows me down. On the beta, my CPU was a core i7 920, but now with this release build, CPU is now Intel Xeon X5680
GPU: GTX 970
24GB of RAM (have 19 GB selected in RED settings)
12 simultaneous frames
Open GL(CUDA has odd artifacts with Film Grain, so that's another thing you should look into. So I keep it on Open GL)

Log file is fairly empty.

Still getting the "weird green" color tint in the viewport on some 3D LUTs. Exports look fine, preview looks incorrect.

Thanks for the information guys.

Phil -- can you email me at redcinex at red so I can take a closer look at this?

Thanks,
David
