  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X Build 351... finally.

eyeon Fusion

eyeon Fusion

Bravo! I want eyeon to implement this in Fusion ASAP. Fusion 6.1 has had full support for Color Science 1 & 2 for a long while so I hope their devs keep in close contact with RED. Think I'll give them a call...

I shot a small clip on a standard RED M at 4480X1920 23.98 and every time I try to export a 1080p quicktime, I get "Finished with errors" "Error applying crop or scale: frame:5".
I've tried cropping to a better mathematical size, same thing. Tried bunches of different quicktime settings to no avail.
This on PC XP 32bit and Mac 32bit versions.
The file plays fine in the Player, I just can't export a quicktime from it.:cursing:

I'm getting the same problem with REDLINE set to 4. All QT's come out short of the file size expected and won't open anywhere except for some reason the last 2 which are fine.
I had this problem with build 348 too but it usually applied to only the first 4 (or however many Redlines were set) clips in a batch export. Whatever has been done to make multiple redlines continue processing multiple files throughout a batch has made more of them go screwy.

Hi Quentin,

Did you see my earlier post (#78):
http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=51413&page=8

If you can confirm, that would be great.
Again, having simultaneous REDLine's running trying to export to the same file is a no go at the moment.

David

I left a message in the Fusion forums yesterday so i guess Daniel or Eric must have seen it.

I appreciate all the fixes to this build... however where is CamRGB color space?!?

The new color and gamma spaces are great, but I need to be able to recreate exactly how I have previously transcoded footage so my grades apply exactly as before. Backwards compatibility is essential. Please when you add options don't take away key old options.

Go to prefs and select "Show Advanced Controls". They are all there.

I encountered a huge problem with the new driver / firmware for the RedRocket!

Hi Leif, can you please shoot me an email? rob at red dot com

The shortcut "Shift Z" - fit timeline to window - doesn't work anymore (at least in the OSX 64 version). The corresponding menu-item still works though.
Thanks for reporting this. The shortcut will be enabled in the next build, and be customizable.

Yes, they are. Thanks.

A bug that still lingers...

Exporting Timeline (all clips) still prompts for a file name, despite the fact that the preset is set up to use source name. I still have to switch into Timeline (selected clips) and then select all clips in the timeline to do a batch export.

You'll want to select "Timeline (separate clips)" if you want each clip in the timeline to get its own output file.

Just wanted to say thank you. Looks lke both better and easier for the usual price of free. I can't wait to see what HDRx grades and looks like with RC/RG-2. And thank you to everyone who posted comparisons and explanations attached with them. I always enjoy learning about grading, especially when it is applied to the latest Red workflows.

Deanan & Team: Tremendous build. This is working fantastic and looks great.

And a huge thank you to continuing work on the "Import XML" tool. I know it has previously been said "we will never be a conform tool-with matchback, etc.," but it's getting VERY close and I do think we'll use it as one for color correction.

I did some tests tonight with using Proxies and using our ProRez One-lights...exporting from the FCP timeline, Importing the XML with clips to timeline, correcting them and exporting back out as a full file. The, I just put the full file on a new layer over the top of the old clips. It's SO close to working perfectly. A couple thoughts:

-The clips seemed to come back in with an additional frame in my tests. So each clip grew my new corrected sequence in length by 1 frame. Not sure what was going on with this...may need to test more.

-A blank space in the FCP timeline when it came into RCX had no gap for the space. I suppose this is fine and we can always put a slug in the blank space if need be...BUT...

-I tried a slug from FCP. This came into the timeline in RCX but it would hang up and not finish the export...I think due to the slug. Known bug? I mean, in a perfect world, the spaces and slugs are kept so we can just export a timeline and it matches back in FCP.

Thoughts on this? Seriously, this is SO close to being a great conform tool, as well. I know it's probably never have secondaries (right? :-), but it's a great tool.

Thanks to everyone who worked on it.

Kevin

Did a couple more tests before I'm done for the night.

Instead of exporting a single file (which I still would like to do), I exported all of the clips into a folder. Then in FCP, reconnected the media to the corrected clips from the RCX export and it worked perfectly! Now, it did say something about the "start time does not match" when I reconnected. So a frame or something is still getting added to the clip length, I think.

But reconnecting is a great way to work anyways and works now...perfectly.

Again, thanks for getting this workflow to come to life!

Every Build gets stronger and stronger. Nice work Deanan and team. To think Foundry Storm is going to be an uptick from this? WOW. All I care about is a release build 400 and holding my EPIC when the REAL aliens invade 12/21/2012. Flying Saucers at 5K @120FPS

Damn you RED!

This new redcine is so good with my M footage that now I have to regrade all my footage from a film I'm working on!

It looks so much better!

Not sure if this is already reported... but launching RCX from a saved .rcx file attempts to launch the app, but then fails. App unexpectedly quits. Opening the project from the already open app works.

Hey Deanan,

This application is a joy to use, really.

Many thanks!

Antoine

I had the 351 running 2 days straight at our InterBEE both and never crushed and people are amazed with the new RC2 and RG2. People just realize what RAW can do and clearly realize that H.264 recorded DSLR footage can't achieve the same control.

The fun thing about RAW, is that when others make better baked soulutions than what RED is currently delivering in RAW, REDRAW just kicks back....

Ahhh...

That's really: "The fun thing about Graeme, the guy that made me buy into RED in the first place, is that:..."
