  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

REDCINE-X BUILD 31 BETA ( With D.E.B )

is D.B.E going to be on SDK anytime soon ?

Guys at RED please do remember that 99% of the finishing is done in Resolve, Baselight, Pablo etc... and in My opinion any new feature that improve the image should be added to SDK right away ( because people would be finishing without that enhancement in the meantime ...)

thanks
g

Graeme has made several revisions to the algorithm since the initial announcement of DEB.

Once it's bolted to the floor it will shoot out to the SDK.

thanks phil

ps: this is supposed to work with OLPF 2?

DEB was optimized for the V2 OLPF, or what we should start referring it to as - Skin Tone - Highlight OLPF (STH for short).

Has anyone experienced problems transcoding Dragon footage to Quikctime Prores in RC-X pro build 31? Every time I try it I get a quicktime displaying horrible static.

Epic MX footage works fine.

I've just uninstalled Build 31 and have hopped back to Build 30 which seems to work fine.

HOW do we apply DEB?

Excuse me for dropping in late here, but i now see a DEB setting in Redcine X, but have no way to choose it. I try at full resolution or quarter, but RCX does not seem to allow me to choose that option. I do by the way have the old Rocket card inside my computer and of course i get the warning that the card is not being used...could the card (mounted) be the issue why DEB is not allowing me to choose it?

EDIT: Ok, answered my own question. Even if RCX is telling me it is using software decoding, i must de-select my rocket card and re-start RCX so the Rocket card does not get prompted for use and then told it will not be used for dragon footage in order for the DEB function to work.

Thanks,

I'm experiencing the same problem with 6K footage transcoded to 1080p Prores. 5k and less transcodes without issues. This is on my New Mac Pro system. My old Mac Pro with a GTX 780 Ti using Cuda has no problems. Red isn't able to duplicate the problem. Btw 6K to 6K transcodes are fine.

I am having a similar problem, but I do not understand the solution you posted. Are you saying DEB is unavailable when a Rocket is attached?

Best,

Eryc

What you need to do is click on the rocket emblum and then UNCHECK where is says use Rocket to debayer...so that you are NOT using the Rocket card. then restart RCX and you should then be able to check the DEB box.....

Having said that, i have not seen ANY difference using DEB vs. leaving it unchecked. Is this to use when footage is not exposed properly then? Also, the render time is unbelievably long. Can someone give an example of when to use it and how much difference one can see using it? I just don't see a difference in a few shots i tried it on.

Thanks,
Johnny

Render times should not increase. Also, you need to be viewing 100 percent and full quality to see any change. I would only use it if you had crazy red speckles everywhere. In most cases you won't need it if exposed correctly.
