  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED WEAPON - Info and Data Sheets

I'll give you a hint, it has up to 65mm across sensor, possibly using a new technology design I was working on.
 
Well, it would appear RED's secret Weapon is becoming less secret with each moment leading up to NAB 2015.

Jarred last night spilled some more details about Weapon. And this is big news.

"ProRes"

In the last 24 hours the industry has changed.

ProRes has become an industry standard over the years. This is "huge" for productions that utilize this workflow.

Also, notable. That's a hefty 1TB MINI-MAG.


Just to reiterate something I said after seeing Weapon for the first time:

This is actually one of the biggest reveals so far. Lots to see in there.
 
Interesting. I guess the fans are moving back a little. New handle with record button? New monitor with the rapid screws. The side controller with screen is nifty. Anything else on the surface?

EDIT: Oh I see... "wire removal" No cables for the monitor! Dang it! should have waited to get my 7". :laugh:

Onboard Pro Res will be embraced by my r3d phobic clients.

Plug in monitor and side panel control on the dumb side thing are great ideas too.

Glad that Red has listened to what we need ( at least in my slice of the business where post production typically gets handed off )

I posted in another thread that i thought it was an 8 also. Like I said there… sometimes we see only what we want to see.

Either way I'd still be happy. :)
 
I think I see a Stop/Start button on the top handle.

Shouldn't it be :

Do note, that Weapon is an upgrade for Epic Dragon cameras. Epic is not going anywhere and is going to be part of the line for a long while

As Epic is the body and Dragon the sensor.

Bob, it looks like the same 7" monitor with a different base. It would be really sweet if there was an upgrade to change out the monitor base at the same time you upgraded your body.

Was just about to post this. Sure would be nice to pay some amount to swap the base to the wireless version. Otherwise I guess I will sell my 7" and buy a new one.
