  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED WEAPON - Info and Data Sheets

Now that Fincher got his own camera model it's time Phil gets one!
You definitely deserved it
- RED Skully.. :coolgleamA:

Cheers Simeon. There seems to be skulls all over the cameras these days :)

I am a wee fish in comparison to Fincher, but RED has indeed and listened to plenty of input over the years (yay for audio for being in one menu now!).

However, once this little 8K shoot gets off the ground though.... And the other shoot that literally takes me off the ground again, it should be fun.

Does anyone know of a 3rd party manufacturer that can fit a Scarlet-W with a cage to specs? Apparently RED has yet to make one that is compatible as was told to me yesterday by a tech at RED. Any leads?

I understand that the weapon helium 8K FF you need a 33.8mm image circle. I also understand that the Angeniuex Optimo DP Rouge 16-42 is only a 31.4 image circle so you will likely vignette. It might go away as you zoom but has anyone actually tried this lens on the Weapon Helium s35 8K camera and if so where does it actually start to vignette.

We have a set of Optimo DP's and have tested them on the Weapon Helium 8K. Very similar coverage to Dragon 6K. In 8K FF the 16-42 vignette is strong between 16-20. Goes away beyond that, but shows up softly in a few spots. The 30-80 seems a bit stronger of a vignette to about 40. Both lenses cover 7K fine and close to covering 8K HD. Again very similar to Dragon 6K. Still very workable, beautiful glass in 7K and some limitations in 8K.

Thanks for the feedback Bryan....I was hoping to get at least 18mm on FF but alas might have to work around 20mm to be safe.
