  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Rocket update...

The above quote from Deanan is in reference to testing the Red Rocket on a Macbook Pro. I'm sure the performance was poor but I'm sure many of us here are still interested in the results (if any).

Denan tell us if RR can speed up a laptop or Not (because of the 1x lane limitation..)

Even half res/med decode would be great...

We have boards but are delaying just a couple of days while we make some adjustments to the SDK and new RED Alert-X! which is a combo of RED Alert! and RED Rushes that works with RED Rocket™. Won't be long. Appreciate everyone's patience. This is worth the wait. BTW... REDCINE -X is still in the works and scheduled for August release.

Looks like the RED ONE is being used as a DSMC now by guys shooting magazine covers. :-)

Yes, I saw those. Pretty f'ing cool. :coolgleamA:

I just wanted to see if I might be so lucky to shoot a feature on Epic-X by Jan '10 or if I'll have to "settle" and "only" shoot on R1. But, I'll go back to patiently waiting if that is what is on the menu.

Hi Jim,

I have to note on that damn cool understatement you've developed now to present us new products "on the fly" in a side sentence. Really cool.

I would love to now more about the scripting abilities of the RED Cine-X and RED Alert-X (and all its interfacing abilities, ie. connection to control it via scripts or external apps).

Hi all,
FYI, I shot some commercials in March for a hospital. The campaign also had Print and Outdoor (billboards) in their media campaign. By design we shot motion and stills for them. The RED ONE was used for all. The shots help up beautifully on the Outdoor!

will red rocket be able to give me the real time scaling if i do a single dvi to hdmi output to a hd television? how color accurate will it be, and will it also provide acceleration for playback and real time for other codecs?

will i be able to use red rocket in conjunction with other cards via black magic or kona. red rocket for real time to debayer to proress 422 hq 2k, edit, send to color and color correct through black magic. for example.

Describe "wicked" for us, will you? :-) Seriously, cannot wait to see or hear how much faster it is with the card.

Guess it will start to become tough for people to find reasons for not using RED. 4K realtime, fast transcodes, SDK for apps to take advantage of it all. A price point that is cheap for most post houses. Congrats Jim!
