  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED RAVEN! RED RAVEN! RED RAVEN!

The logo Jarred's put up on Facebook seems to say "Weapon with wings" to me.

oh yeah

I wonder if RAVEN is part of a whole DRONE system/workflow from RED?

Ie RAVEN may be dual purpose - INDIE WEAPON and also DRONE CUSTOMIZED?

Somewhat related to the teasing discussion above: why launch/present a new camera two weeks AFTER IBC?

The only reason that makes sense to me is if they say "and it's available TODAY". I find that highly unlikely, even if I remember them saying that they would increasingly start to announce new product closer to the release date.

If not, why not let Raven be RED's IBC thing? It's obviously pretty much up and running? They would have gotten away with November shipping...

And for the love of everything good and beautiful: why on Facebook???! This hasn't touched Recon once, right?

I'm betting it will be all over Recon on the 25th.

Raven was an IBC "tease". I don't think RED would have even risked shipping the camera to Amsterdam honestly. I mean 8K for NAB was about as "ninja" as possible and that camera never left Jim's or Jarred's hands except for the few they handed it to to shoot a couple frames.

Jarred likes to treat his Facebook buddies to late night chaos which leads to some pretty exciting stuff occasionally. A few of us suffer from the "sleep when I die" thing and it's nice to have that late night camera/tech/news excitement.

Fortunately Jarred seems to have learned more than just running shop from Jim :)

I don't buy your reasoning this time around Phil. This is just trivial stuff so no reason to discuss it at length. Perhaps I just find it a bit inconsistent.

Not sure I follow you here. All manufacturers bring their stuff to be introduced? Why would the Raven be so precious that RED couldn't bring it? At the very least it could have been behind glass if they wanted to drop the new product.

I totally appreciate the RED tradition of staying up late and interacting with customers/hopefuls. But it has been done on Reduser, traditionally. As it should.

Facebook—I don't get that at all: now Jarred's friends and family, friends of his wife, his old pal at the deli round the corner, perhaps a few cars enthusiasts and what other FB friends he has in various walks of life know all about Raven. Meanwhile, RED's customers are waiting until the 25th… You get the idea.

What's wrong with sharing the late nite excitement on Reduser?

Is it possible that you are not aquatinted with the story of the Epic prototype theft?

You all have it wrong. Raven is black so this clearly will be an announcement laying out the Weapon 8K upgrade path for Monochrome Dragon. Hate to think my Mono is EOL so a guy can dream.

Yeah - except the movie file teaser showed a colour picture. So dream on! If that helps you keep your sanity - though I'm sure there would be several people lined up to take the monochrome off your hands.

Not being a Socal Media aficianado, I agree. The reason I check REDuser is to learn new stuff such as future product releases. We here are the customer base in re: numbers.

Bring the Raven Maven back to REDuser! Posting news on Facebook is like taking an International Company and treating it as a local company, i.e. a circle of friends, IMO.

At least post it simultaneously on REDuser.
