RED, Please Stop Shipping the Quad Redvolt Module...

This just in:

Las Vegas- After repeated blows to the mouth, the famed "Gift Horse" today jumped the fence and fled the corral. Believed to be a descendant of the Unicorn, the Gift Horse was being held at Jim Jannard's Red Ranch. Jannard would not comment.

One onlooker remarked "Damn, that thing needs to see a dentist."

The animal was last seen headed toward Neveragainland.

News at eleven.

It would be awesome if we could get the upcoming DUAL module instead of the QUAD, no additional credit needed, just a swap.
I would hardly use the quad module but I think I will definitely have use for the dual one.

Please, RED, also think of the environment. What sense does it make to ship items that are shelved or thrown away?

Kudos to Brent for stepping up and stating RED's case. I understand it can be a mine field to wade into this kind of thread, but when RED is silent it just breeds FUD.

FWIW, I am one of those who politely asked my rep if I had to purchase the Pro Quad Battery Module, he noted that it was part of a bundle I had agreed to buy, I shrugged and paid up. As noted in Brent's post, RED offered a bundle deal. I accepted their (very generous) offer of my own free will.

The reality is that like many others I really don't want the module, I already spent a couple grand on other power options so I could use the camera while the Pro Quad was still on backorder. If anyone reading this who has not yet purchased (or is unhappy with) alternative power solutions would like to PM me with an offer, please do so.

The ProQuad Battery Module offers slick integration with the Epic system. Once multi-position fast chargers and longer life RedVolts are available it should be an excellent option.

+1 on adding D-taps

Cheers - #19

My plan is to buy that quad module, take it apart, find the power cable and make a Dtap for it. How hard can that be... It even has nice bolt holes on the top to secure some sort of dtap out. Then off course a week later red will announce their Dtap module... :)

Brent,

That is an excellent response and I totally get it when you explain it like that and I can put myself in your shoes.

From a supply chain standpoint it's just important to fulfill and ship the orders as per the agreement.

I haven't read anyone here questioning the integrity of the generosity or how great a deal stage two is. Just one of those unique situations that arise out of circumstance that needs to be discussed.

Thanks for being in this thread.

I totally get it.

No problem. And thank you to you, guys. This thread could have easily spiraled out of control or gone done a frustrating path. That is the beauty of this forum, it gives us the opportunity to work together instead of against each other. Even though this is understandably a touchy subject, valid points, feedback, and counter-arguments have been presented. So, again, thank you - it is really quite refreshing, when you think about it.

Brent"s reply seems pretty clear.

i think like Jannard said before, and other people said, you have to take into consideration that a lot of options are possible,
but when the package was introduced we have all plenty off time to give our thoughts and input on all accesories,
I think people tend to forget the time before the r1 where they really , really have listened to what we wanted. the quad module was part of it, if you feel different right now, you did a mistake, not red, so i still persist on selling the item if you don't need it.

so, anyone seen these revolt XL batteries?

they fit side ways on the quad module? anyone seen a photo or mock up of this?

Basically just 2 Redvolts glued together except because there is more room inside they are supposedly higher capacity @ 90wh as apposed to 30wh+30wh.

(this info based on common sense and speculation ;)

Speaking as someone that recently took delivery of an Epic-X at 2012 pricing... reading this thread is nauseating.

But all things said (and really nothing else needs to be), even for what I paid, I'm thrilled. While I'm a warm and fuzzy blushed red all over, I'd be tickled pink if I was getting the deal you guys got. If nothing else, just consider that.

And thank you, Brent.

I understand RED's position completely, and I'm fine with it. But I have a question. You were part of the group that designed the total system, what was/is the plan for powering accessories? I can't believe that that wasn't considered, but I can't figure out a solution that makes any sense.

I agree 100%

I will use the dual battery module, where as I don't see myself using/ needing the quad.

Also making the dual battery module would be saving Red materials and so Red should be better off financially too !

Hey Brent, how bout putting that D-tap everyone wants inside the Module Adaptor? I am sure it is more complicated than that, but it would solve an existing issue...

Come on, Brent. We all know that you secretly miss the "Bomb EVF Shipping" thread. :001_tt2:
