  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE M-X Sensor Upgrade Program

Just got the email for cameras shipped 6.10.09-8.11.09, which covers my #6340. Things are really moving, hope to send mine next week, after taking care of all the burocracy here in Mozambique.... and paying....

Just had my email through for the period 12.4.09-3.12.10 . I'm in the UK, if that has any bearing I don't know... whatever, I'll be a blur of bank transfers and packing tape very shortly ;)

John,

Thank you for that update. It's pretty clear the MX upgrades is turning over pretty fast. Very good news.

Like John, I have just received my invitation to upgrade my Red One camera to the M-X chip. I must say that just the thought of it is very exciting.

However, like John, I am in Stage 3.5. (Serial #7421 "Helios")

In order to make a properly informed decision, I would love to know if Jim and Red have reached a final decision regarding Stage 3.5 camera owners.

(See linked post below.)

Thanks so much guys.

I took Jim's 'under consideration' in the same way as if my wife ever says 'I'll think about it'... I've got to say, I'm taking the pessimistic view that having received my MX invitation now, as a stage 3.5 guy I'm going to get at least 9 months to a year out of my MX before EPIC. Hell, if I'm wrong I'll just have to drown my financial woes in tech-joy.

Color me more optimistic than you are, John. :001_smile:

I have found Jim to be very understanding when it comes to these type of dilemmas.

Would be good if Red could give any update when they expect the mx red ones to be available in the store....

After everyone with an existing RED ONE with an M sensor has been notified that they are eligible to upgrade to the M-X sensor.

I had a dream a couple of days ago where the new RED ONE MX on the site comes with a new media module instead of the CF), the cooler was also quieter and more efficient making the battery last longer, the body itself was lighter in weight. The price was the same (US$ 18.000,00 with the new module).

Epic.

(OK, price is not the same, but there will also be a Scarlet eventually)

I don't know if someone in the shipping department at RED is just being really efficient, but my RED got there for the upgrade yesterday and I've already gotten a notice from FedEx that shipment info has been sent. I doubt RED would go ahead and set up shipping info before a camera was done. Or did anyone else have that happen?

Edit: So FedEx picked up my Camera yesterday. Pretty excited that they changed the sensor in 24 hours and got it back to me!

Can someone tell me the quickest way to get the M-X upgrade process started over this long holiday weekend?

There is no way to place an order for the M-X/Red Rocket card package on the Red website. :badputer:

Do I need to wait until Tuesday to place the order directly with my bomb squad rep over the phone?

Would I speed things up by depositing money in my Red account this weekend? If so, how does one deposit money into your Red account without placing an order for an actual item(s)? I have never done this before.

Any advice, based on your own upgrade experiences, would be appreciated.

You need to be notified by RED as to when you are eligible for the upgrade. It's in order of purchase of your red.

I once placed an order for an actual item just so I could get up to date wire transfer information. I then just cancelled the order afterword in my_account online.

That's great news Matthew.
My camera was at Red for approx 1 month from the 3rd week of June to 3rd week of July...during the only busy time of year.
Having said that, my camera since the upgrade has never been busier!

I received the e-mail notification on Tuesday.

My question is really ...

Is it possible to use a credit card, currently on file with Red, to deposit funds into one's Red account for the M-X Upgrade/Red Rocket card package. I ask, because the M-X upgrade/Red Rocket package is not a selectable item that can be checked out in the traditional sense and paid for.

My best guess is that I will have to wait until Tuesday to contact John Restivo, the M-X Upgrade Program Coordinator.

From what I understood, as long as you pay and let the MX department know you have paid it should be fine. I for example paid a lump sum for the MX upgrade and for the red prime lens set in one payment, and I just had to let both the MX dept and Marco that they should expect the payment.
There should be no problem
