Yup. That's what I'm reading. Sounds like a pretty serious upgrade.

I was thinking about this and I think Jarred has given us enough to drive each of us crazy! The original picture features the RED name. Now having a conversation with someone about typography, there is a little "gapping" difference between the R and E and the D. This is on evey camera and is on the right side of the camera by the power button. You can just about make out the PWR through the rib cage effect on the right. So my guess is it's something that goes in the place of the side handle / switchblade. So my call is a module.

Also looking at Jarreds post about #44 etc - I thought that was posting numbers but since we're only around #194 then he could be anticipating that this thread will get bigger and he'll post another clue at #599 OR it could be camera numbers!!!!

EDIT - okay got the point that whatever it is, will be for Carbon Fibre Dragon first then regular Dragons but EPIC is out of luck.

I just hope that Red doesn't abandon Epic MX. I'm not in a position to be able to upgrade to Dragon at this moment and it feels like Red more and more leans towards making the MX obsolete both hinting at it not being upgradable in the future and now this which might be some kind of huge additional upgrade to Dragon that is one further step away from MX. However I look at it, it feels like MX is the end of the line for some. I sincerely hope that whatever this is, it's going to be available as an upgrade addition when upgrading from MX to Dragon.

I think El Maestro has given us the path- There is a slight pecking order to the promised land, no new sensor, no new body, a new module- most likely on the right because there is already too much hanging off the back, and that position enhances better balance to hand hold/shoulder mount/steadicam/gimbal, it will be 4k/uhd related with easy integration into live multi camera setups, hence suggesting to Luigi that by upgrading Epic he will have classic 3cam proscenium rig. A module like this would give us the greatest increase in value of Dragon as our investments in lenses, all ancillary gear etc. now becomes viable in whole new dimension- Dragon comes (A)LIVE!

unless movies are obsolete, it's hard to imagine the MX as obsolete. But I think Jarred is telegraphing this one pretty loudly and clearly - Dragon only. Don't be surprised. The reference to Luigi's camera numbers says so...

But I hardly think MX is obsolete. I kept my SCARLET as an MX, and it's still a great camera. Making pretty pictures never goes out of style. Dragon just gives a few nifty extra tools and some extra latitude, so far.

maybe they are activating more of the camera's gyroscopic functionality? (this would explain why MX can't have it...doesn't have the electronics....)

If RED is adopting this logo for a future product, it could become interesting litigation-wise. Intel also has a skull logo on the 730 Series solid state drives. It is different but in the same general line-drawing "style".
