  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED DRAGON Scores Highest DXOMark Score ever.

I was showing an A-lister the camera yesterday for a brief moment and he was more than impressed. Nearly everybody I've shown Dragon to seems to have the same experience. From discerning professional DPs to still photographers. So far riding the Dragon has been very good.

Red Epic Dragon = RED

I feel so proud even though I don't own one (although I'd love to ;)

I have plastered this all over facebook, twitter, and linkedin and hope everyone sees it. If I'm this proud I wonder how all of you at RED feel! This is awesome and a huge congratulations!

It's funny how alot of people seem to forget what the S stands for in DSMC. We are very proud that the top still photographers in the world are shooting RED, that was always one of our goals from the very beginning. It is why we make Leica and Canon and Nikon mounts for our cameras.

It is amazing to me how far some people need to reach just to sling arrows.

We work hard for this stuff.. I wish people would just let it go already.

I know I have talked way too much and done way too little as of lately...

However I'll the "S" of "DSMC has always had a special place in my mind...

With DRAGON... We'll take it to the next level!!

It seems like the introduction of the Dragon is going to shake things up again like RED did when they pushed 4K.

Got to love innovation!

Seems like it would be more helpful if any of RED's competitors (Arri, Sony, Blackmagic, etc) where tested by DXO.

I think they are a stills-centric test lab.

To Jim, Jarred and red team Thanks a million!!!

Congrats, RED team, you are THE HERO again.
But as always.. you can't fall asleep, or enjoy your victory for so long, because all old and new competetors are working night and day to take the championship belt from you.

this is why I hate these tests, makes me want dragon even more. ;)

I see what you're getting at but, seeing how RED specifically markets the "stills" part of their camera system, I'd argue DxO DID test Dragon against RED's competitors - Nikon, Canon, Phase One, Sony, etc.

It's the overall best stills camera they've ever tested. Maybe Alexa would score higher than Dragon in some areas but its resolution (and size) make it unsuitable for a lot of serious print work. The F65 is also too big for any serious print work.

This test demonstrates that Dragon's images are in the same league as the best stills cameras in the world and blaming the camera is going to make people look less competent and should be increasingly less tolerated as an excuse for poor imagery.

as a side note. Both the Dragon and the D800e were criticized for packing more MP into their sensors at the theorized cost of Dynamic Range. Yet both cameras hit much harder then 18MP flagship sensor by that other company. Red continues to defy traditional expectations. Maybe we can have our cake and eat it too.

Congratulations Red guys.

Great achievement. Hats off.

Looks like Jim's dream came to life.

It's a milestone for the company (under 10 years old and achieving this)
and the industry (a cinema camera outperforming still cameras in key areas).
Perhaps Jannard should make a quick appearance for this one.

It's nice to have a non-camera manufacturer respected source to confirm what some of us already know - now you can just email those clients and prospective clients this link :)

Exactly, We can all say it til we're blue (or RED) in the face but a reputable impartial observer coming to the same conclusion is much better.

Wow. Congrats to Jim, Jarred and everyone else at RED!!!

…Still hoping to see my Dragons soon.
