  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Raven Queue Put Together

Hey Jesus, did you RED rep advise it would be Feb or is that a guess? Could you let us know when you placed your order (can't see your name in the list?)?

RED must have an idea of how many they are producing each week/month and how many pre-orders they have so it's frustrating to understand why they won't give us more information - I guess it because they know we won't like what they have to say!
 
Yeasterday my Rep worte to me that he still don't know when my camera from alocation ((85). Aleksander Osmalek - 11/27/15 - ??? - Allocated on 09-21-2016 ) will be ready....

"Hi Alex,
I apologise, I still haven’t received an update yet and unfortunately I don’t have estimated date as of yet... "
 
I remember being told June... then the rep didn't know when it would be shipping. It feels kind of like a Black magic situation in terms of actually getting the product out. Very frustrating but I'll wait.

The last allocation on here was 11/27/15 and the next one scheduled is 12/2/15... so RED got in so many orders between 11/27/15-12/2/15 that they are still backed up even after a month? Something doesn't add up. Unless there is something else that happened here, the only event that occurred around that time was the release of the CARRION video but that was on 12/5/15.

Jarred or Brent, can we please get an update?

This is just an opinion, but it's more likely that they have temporarily slowed down or stopped Raven manufacturing to fill orders that are more profitable first - especially since the Raven backorder is encouraging people to jump to Epic-W. As soon as it looks like the upgraders are slowing down and therefore have optimized the profits for that deal, they'll ramp up Raven manufacturing again. I have a positive view towards RED as tools in the trade and currently have a Raven and a Scarlet-W (still waiting on our second Raven), but I'm not sure why people look at them as a charity and not a business. It's not surprising they would rather sell you a $20,000 brain over a $7,000 one.

I hope that's not the case, especially because the Raven was what opened the RED Gate to many people with a smaller budget and that waiting period has frustrated enough people already, without creating an artificial delay on top of it.

I'm certain that quite a few of the people that ordered the Raven didn't have the resources to buy a S-W or Epic-W, which is why they chose the Raven in the first place.
Stalling (especially after the waiting time took months) in order to motivate a switch that some of those people (I happen to be one of those) can't afford (no matter how good the deal) doesn't seem like a wise decision, especially as some people in RAVEN FB group mentioned that they already cancelled their orders.

I don't know why nothing has really happened in more than a month, and in all honesty and with all due respect, I don't really care either. I don't blame RED in any way, I and many others just want a status update, that's all.

I hear ya. Our third brain - a Raven retail order placed on 4/19/16 - is still in the cue too. We passed on the Epic-W deal because having 2 SW sounds better than 1 EW for the $$.

Sorry for letting some steam off, but I had to as I cannot shoot my Projects without the Raven, as we need HFR at 60, 90 & 120 FPS for them. I just have to wait patiently for it.
 
I was wondering why Red doesn't put Helium sensors of Raven size into Ravens and start clearing the queue? Looks like Helium sensors are made faster and a Helium sensor cut into Raven size might give us 6K too? :D

Updated list on page 102 with pre-order info up to this point. Also did some wording tweaks and highlighted any dealer allocations for pre-orders after the end of September 2015.

I don't know whether the reply to your PM reached you. Yes, I'm still in the queue, though my order date is 1/12/16, not 1/16/16 as is showing in the list. Though four days wouldn't matter much.

I am still with Raven as this camera suits me at this price point. Unfortunately, people who booked their camera in the initial days got them within 9 months and who have booked later are waiting for 11 months. Normally, queues clear up faster for later bookings. For Raven, it's not so. :(

Thanks Subrata - I updated your order date. I also PM'd a batch of other people today to re-confirm dates so am making rolling updates to the list as those come in (I'm not making new list announcements for those).
