Can we expect to hear some news about the REDMOTE PRO before the end of the year? This is the one thing im most excited to see come out. Ive searched and can't find any release info.

I'm guessing after the Meizlers release.

It would be great for Red to build some kind of wireless follow focus remote, with advanced Redmote specs. Especially if the Meizler Can output enable wired possibilities for Redmotes.

It seems like the most wanted feature of a "Pro" version of the REDmote is a true, knob-controlled tactile wireless follow focus capability. From recent conversations I've been in with knowledgeable folks, the idea of getting a smooth focus pull from the electronics inside the Scarlet/Epic, in conjunction with Canon or Nikon auto lenses, may be somewhat elusive. I wouldn't bet the ranch on that capability coming soon. Just my interpretation of what I've heard, mind you.

I think my most requested feature for a new redmote would be an antenna on both the remote and the camera. As a DIT, the distance issues make it pretty much not even an option. We shoot often in the jungle with high humidity and inaccessible locations that cause the DIT station to be much farther away than any studio setup. Add sea spray in the air and wireless goes to pot. I'd even be happy if it could run over HDSDI - Nothing is reliable like a hard patch. I don't want to start another flaming thread about this dead dog topic but if its going to say PRO, lets make it have some serious range for the pros.

Viewfactor/Birger did it. I know RED can do it. Its something I would use on just about every shoot.

Here you go,
This is what we are shipping.
It's a "stand alone" system that will work with any camera...
no gears on lenses or external motors for focus and iris control necessary.
Positive locking instantly transform your still lenses into "PL" cine optics.
and yes smooth focus pulls ...

You can buy directly from us.
$3500 for the complete kit.
OptiTron( the hand unit) is wireless ready (it has the Tx installed- the blue bump on the OptiTron is the antenna). We'll add the receiver for the mount end very soon- didn't want to roll it all out at the same time- (where would be the fun of anticipation?:wink5:).
Here is the thread I started on the kit: http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?87950-The-Future-of-Follow-Focus-Now-Optitron-by-OptiTek

I think it's tied to Meizler and ET controller:)

Any past news about this red mote? I have only heard a few rumors and I am left very curious. When do you think they will announce it? Have they said anything at all yet?

Oh OK, no news. That means it isn't even on the roadmap then.

I shall seek an alternative then

I too, was totally game for the REDmote Pro… Very, very promising. Something tells me with all the connection issues that the REDmote has, RED just tried to forget about it.

Conversely, they just released a 3-axis WMD system with FIZ (much more expensive at $14k). Nowhere close to as sleek as what the REDmote Pro would have been, and not nearly as lucrative to stave off the need for PL glass.

But, yeah, I'd really like to hear an official "It's off the menu" from RED.
