  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Quad Charger and REDVOLT XL...In stock now shipping

The Quad Charger charges each Redvolt with the same amount of Volts as the Travel Charger ( 1.75 Amps ) . You can't charge with any more amps without getting into a heat situation and lowering the life of the cells... the circuits in the Redvolts protect against it.

This happens all at the same time on the Quad Charger... 1.75Amps max to each cell at the same time. As the Cells near full.. the amps go down on that "slot" and that slot alone.. the rest stay at 1.75 amps. That is what Brent is trying to state.

Does that clear it up?

So... with that said, the QUAD charger will charge a single battery no quicker than a Travel charger would.
Eg: 4 batteries charged in the quad the same as 4 travel chargers...

Thats a pity.

So (thinking out loud) if the quad battery charger fails for some weird reason (like many chargers have in the past) then you have to have a backup quad battery charger.

So really having 4 Travel chargers is the most safest way to travel... knowing if one of those failed, then you have 3 still to use...

I think Ill stick with my half dozen travel chargers pinned to one plug... Working a treat :)

Over all, I haven't been screwed on RED VOLT batteries yet, A dozen RED VOLTS and Good on-set power management solves any of those issues.

Still very happy.

PS... I may buy one just for the fun of it :)))

Thanks J.

Duration depends on power draw (ie, what modules, displays, etc are attached). But XL is approximately twice the size of a regular REDVolt so....

I don't want to sound stupid, but if the XL is only going to provide marginally better power than 2 redvolts why would I want all the extra bulk? I was hoping for at least 50% more capacity out of them than having 2 of their little brothers.

I'm pretty sure it is ~50% larger with 48.3% more capacity. Each redvolt: 30 wh. Revolt Xl: 89 wh.

Thanks,
2 XL and quad is leaving the shelf.
Now, I just need to cancel my order for those two travel chargers I just ordered.. hope that works.

Perfect. Can't believe I missed that.

So with 2 XL's in the quad bat module and a small volt plugged into the side handle there is almost an boring amount of time available for shooting. 90minx2+ 30min = 210 minutes = 2.5 hours :)

And that is more than enough time to recharge them. So with 4 XLs, 2 Smalls, 1 Quad Charger, and 1 Travel Charger, you'll never have to worry about not having enough battery power as long as you are with in range of a power outlet.

So, does that mean that I can fully charge 4 Redvolts via one device (Quad charger) in 2 hours?

:iamwithstupid:

Question for the RED Team, I DESPERATLY want the quad charger but I'm confused.

Besides being able to charge the XL battery, what is the difference between 4 single chargers and this unit?

I know it's way more compact, but I thought it was going to be a quick charger? Am I missing something?

I don't believe those are real-world estimates.
I'm lookin' forward to 'someone' posting what run time they're getting on an XL, hopefully soon.

Well done Mates! On order. Brent, thanks for the disclosure info

It seems as if this will be the fastest we can charge. I think I remember as well the mentioning of a quick charger, but Jarred's post pretty much excludes that possibility. So difference is : size and XL charging

That's a bloody good point... on that note i will jack up my regular redvolt supply till the quads modules start shipping... then i MAY reconsider :)

It just goes to show that when we launch a product, see what FAQ's you guys post on REDuser, then we address on that product's page :)

OK, you've got the Class 9 Dangerous Goods shipping disclaimer on the RED BRICK® and REDVolt pages, but NOT on the REDVolt XL page.

Since the REDVolt and REDVolt XL are both under the 100Wh limit, why not reduce the Shipping Fear Factor on everything EXCEPT the RED BRICK?
