  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

I feel like a kid waiting for christmas and like santa keeps dropping me little notes as to what I'm getting... cryptic little notes.... god I hope I'm not on the naughty list... I already want this and I haven't even seen it.

Hi Jarred,

Does the current switchblade work with the weapon and other kit that will be announced?

Thank you very much

Fury

Something new.
Still, I'm gonna hang on to my side handles in case, like the mini XLRs, they come back into vogue on a future model. '-)

I guess as one who has been planning on buying a Dragon package in the next few months, it behooves me to make that purchase in the next month. However, having things like a side handle on my current quote, it might be wise to hold off on some of the modules that may become.....not as useful in the near future?

Well the good thing is it kinda sounds like you don't need to wait till NAB in April to see what your options are...

One thing to consider is that it may be (many??) months before you will undergo the transition to Weapon; either because of your own choice, or because of the length of the queue and where you are in it. So, while I agree that keeping any new purchase to "the essentials" is a good idea, whatever configuration you end up with may be in use for a reasonably long time.

Just a thought.

. I can't tell you how many times over the years D-tap was inserted backwards and it blew something up and we received angry calls from whoever telling us we need to replace their monitors etc.

I would tell them that their monitor should include reverse polarity protection since it takes up about 5mm^2 :D

Please share all :-), i know it's eating you inside. Feel like the old days, am now checking Reduser every chance i get, love it.

Regardless... I know the whole Big Mag to Mini Mag is a jump some people are having problems with even though I have been warning about it for a year. To make things easier, we are working out a special deal for those that have REDMAGS already and need to switch to MINIMAGS. It is not a trade-in thing, but more of a one time discount when you jump over to make things a little less painful... based on the number of the big cards you have. So if you have 6 big cards, you can buy up to 6 minimags at a reduced price, only at the time you switch over. Fair?

We are not trying to screw you guys here.. With technology some things just can't live forever.

Fair, all I would ask is that you guys don't 'double dip'. I'm ok with there being overhead and expenses and R&D to pay off. And that as a business you need to make a profit. I just ask that for something like obsoleting media which up until now has been the *only* media which makes sense for most shooting scenarios (nobody wants a full day of shooting on a single card) that you don't use this as an opportunity for profit but as you say a chance to make your lives easier with a single media type and our lives easier by being on your future form factor would be very fair and very welcome. After all I don't remember anyone clamoring for physically smaller media. And I definitely don't remember anyone clamoring for 512GBs being the smallest unit of storage.

So yes you've been selling your new product for a year but I've been recommending 240GB modules to people for the last year too because most people don't need the highspeed and nobody I've talked to has wanted fewer larger cards over more small cards. My only question is you mention "Big Cards" does that mean you'll only be taking back 512GB cards not 128s? I have the equivalent of one 512GB card (and then would need to buy another one to have two cards at all times). But would I be excluded from this offer since I've got 2x 128s and a 240.

Hey Jarred, I really want to thank you for the mini mag upgrade program as well as the form factor upgrade program! Its so amazing being able to get more life out of the investment. That being said will Rocket X work with Weapon? Also, I keep three camera packages at a major name rental house still on 1.8 mags. I am going to switch all the MXs to Dragon before NAB, but not sure if I can get them to wait on the mini mags until your program is in place. Right now my Dragon there uses 240gb 1.8 cards since its required, and MX uses 1.8 128gb mags. Since I am somewhat stuck between their policies and when you start this very gracious program is there any possible way to accommodate me based on their switch over as well? I was about to upgrade the MX and grab mini mags now, but if your program is starting near NAB I now think I should wait/try to convince this mainstream house to switch when you guys are running this mag swap program... In theory I can leave the 1.8s with the house for legacy rentals, maybe, but the main issue is I am not the only decision maker here so anything you can do to help me would be wonderful! Also one of the cameras (now Dragonized) is a low serial number early adopter camera, so I am guessing that one will be the first Weapon the houses gets unless someone has a carbon...Please PM me or email if you don't want to respond here? Thanks
