  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

One valid question on this front since those beans have spilled. The Quickplate Module still works or is something new in the works? And if it does work and it sounds like some tinkering has happened do we even need the Module Adapter in the chain?
I really hope we won't need the adapter module anymore, that one did only add weight and bulk to the cam and brought nothing in return...

some will some won't. Some modules like the plus one module become redundant, since there are now 2 LCD/EVF connections on the Weapon brain itself.

Yeah, but Jarred, you wanna know what's better than two LCD/EVF ports? ...Three!

And yes, I'm kidding. I would like to know if the Pro IO is gonna work/connect though...

Somehow this photo ended up in my in box...

Granted. Weapon brain is actually almost half an inch shorter than the Epic brain, and when you add the modules there is no adapter needed and things get much more compact ( the base IO for example only adds 3/8" of an inch to the body ) For super compact setups, where you may not even need the base IO, just the battery module, you can skip the IO module completely.

oh now you're just playing with us

:hurray:

Are you guys sure those are mini XLR? They look like the same 1/8" to me.

Good eye! In that photo, those are minis (1/8"). I've been told by good authority that there will be the 'choice of both!' (Meaning: TA3 (commonly known as mini XLR) or 1/8")

I understand all the discussion about "trade-ins" and retaining legacy Accessories. We have all spent a lot of money of modules and media and 3rd party designs. I am sure Jarred and Brent and team have thought long and hard. But what is important is that this new camera's design (inside and out) is the best those mad scientists (Graeme!) can come up with and that they should not hurt that design by trying to make all the legacy parts work.
+1
At some point, you have to say forget backward compatibility and design what's best going forward.
We don't need a VHS player in our mobile devices. VHS fans just have to just take the loss.

Not a problem with Mini xlr's... it was those damn type Mini BNC's we put on Red One. Those things we were told were going to take over the world but I think only AJA and us fell for it.... but on the bright side it gave birth to Element Technica who made the nice little box to fix them.

:) oh hehehe. Thanks for clarifying Jarred

Nice ! Starting to really like where this is going.
So far, Weapon seems to be a refinement of the Epic's form factor, making many small details even better than before.
Now, I'm getting curious about what changed under the hood ;-)

Bam!

Hmmm. Reading between the lines that means that the module type connector doesn't change? This could mean I could keep my dual redvolt module ! :)

Does the Brain have a 4pin power output for accessories? That was the thing I loved about the plus one and a side handle.

About powering options, is there any kind of extra lemos 12/24v on the Brain or in any new modules ?
Do we keep our action products products ?

Can we plug a focus or iris motor on the Brain itself and control with thc or other similar Interface like rtmotion.

Wifi like in hot link but inside the Brain ?

Sorry autocorrect on my phone and fat finger. Usually don't cruise reduser on my phone but these are exciting times.

The Weapon Redvolt XL module has 2 x 2 pin AUX power outputs now ( 1 more than the current XL battery module ) . So will the AB and V-lock options. Certain other modules will have additional AUX. power outputs depending on their use.
