  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

Which one?

Edit: Ah, looks like the side outputs module is on fact not the legacy one that was shown previously. Seems that there are double sdi outputs on the lower part of the module.

Yes. ...and at the top, there are 4 spots where the surface bulges out for ports. On the "legacy", there are only 3.

Also... The bulges in this pic don't have hard edges like in the other pics.

I don't mind having to use an adaptor for LEMO. I just hope we can mount that top adaptor 180 deg in the other direction so there's no cables sticking out of the front of the camera.

With connections at the bottom to connect to the brain it's not.

You only need the monitor adapter if you are using an old (or one of the very recently released) monitors?

The New monitor that will be released with WPN will have a direct connection to the brain? Correct?

Not sure what to do with my current RED monitors as the idea of adapters flies in the face of why I`m wanting the new form factor.

I wish then would have removed those two screws and the cover plate and just shown us the sensor box! :)

see the second weapon and the side module there? Maybe a different module?

Demetri's image looks like a red herring. The box looks like it might have been one of several during the evolution of the Weapon or is intentionally misleading.

Hmmmm.... RED HERRING... what camera might that be?

Oh, I kid!

Maybe, but the pic is only about 24 hours old though. At least on Instagram

Ha - the next innovation from RED, to create a revenue source, is to take a small percentage of sales on REDuser classifieds. LOL

IF this is a picture of the real thing, it has a MODULE attached that we have not seen before. It's definitely not the same as the one in the other pics or in the video.

ha ha dont get to excited guys.. I think this dude is messing with everyone. That is a super super old engineering test block.

Jarred you have a bit more time left to give us more reveal. But nevertheless, post NAB 2015, good wishes on the success of the Weapon project.

Oh no...a bad Easter egg! So it's not from the real Easter bunny but probably a chicken in disguise! Yolks on us!

I knew that thing was too bulky to be a final design :)

One thing it did do though was make me realise how & where the lemo adapter fits on. Looks like the adapter should be rotatable 180 degrees horizontally from the way it is though. Or maybe it can it go either way round..
Which also makes me afraid that RED won't offer a 7" display upgrade for those of us that just dropped 3000 bones on the new Red Touch 7". I'd really hope that a display upgrade would at least be available for those early adopters in the week of NAB!

Well that makes 2 votes for this. Yours and mine (19 posts back). Who else is with us??!!!

An upgrade would be nice but If I had to pay for it, I think would just leave it the way it is and use the adaptor (assuming a couple of adaptors come with the body).

Regarding the display, honestly, I see very few instances when you'd want to mount it on the body, I've been doing it for some time after I only got my scarlet, but this is plain inconvenient for any configuration except camera on a tripod below your eye level. The majority of time a monitor is sitting on an arm even in smallest handheld configs, cause it gives you flexibility that is especially important in both guerilla and studio environments. So you're perfectly fine with your current 7" imo. Doubt RED will change anything in a new 7 inches except adding contacts and mounting screws

The main reason I got the old 7 monitor was because A) I don't want it locked to the camera body, ever. You move it around all the time when shooting. As soon as you changed everything into a new setup you want to change how you view the shot.
B) In cold weather, the touch is rather useless, I'd use buttons rather than a touch screen (also keeps the screen a bit cleaner :P )
