Alright party people. That number right there is nearly all the content I've put online in 23 years.

PHFX, PHFX | tools, and literally every datasheet and/or graphic I've made on REDuser and the rest of the internet has been transfered to a much more stable server.

Everything should be faster and more responsive globally as of 8:8:2017.

My OG hosting company has been "worsening" and honestly couldn't keep up with with my needs and expectations, though I tried to be loyal to the end.

Got a few things to tidy up on the email side of things and my OG artbyphil site, but for now everything you guys see on a daily basis is there.

I'm happy to announce a new PHFX | tool, printHelper! A little love to photographers, artists, and motion picture professionals looking to print their images This is a resolution/print size calculator. This is a resolution/print size calculator with common or custom DPI/PPI densities. Once again, a big thank you to the sponsors who support these tools.

We are shooting with Digital Stills and Motion Cameras after all :)

Nice. Do you ever sleep Phil?

You can sleep when you are dead. For now, there are things that need to be done!

Something I saw missing on your charts... Redraw / rolling shutter times for the different sensors and preferably, even though its quite easy to calculate if you know the resolution and know the FF time. redraw time for each format.

Just as a continued thanks, I use this site almost everyday ... and especially appreciate how you keep it up to date.

Thank you Patrick! Heh. It's been rather useful as of late for some peeps. Got to keep up with every new major camera.

Interesting. I guess I can make a tool or something for that. My schedule isn't going to be code friendly for a heartbeat, but I'll put it on the list.

It's that time of the year again, the time to update my Sensor Chart. This time it's a fairly big update:

Short list of the updates:
- Added newest digital cinema cameras
- Changed and simplified color key
- Added spec panel
- Now contains max resolution, image plane, and image circle
- Added major brand logos for easier viewing
- Chart is now 16x9 for easier viewing on most screens
- Added Netflix approved column, which also reflects cameras typically used for 4K delivery industry-wide
- Removed a couple of still camera formats that aren't motion centric

Enjoy!

With the announcement of the RED Dragon-X 5K S35 and my newly restored access to the internet I have updated all web tools and relevant graphics with this new addition to the DSMC2 family.

Thanks again Phil for all your time and effort!!!

Just a quick update, though the testing wasn't exactly quick. I've gone through another round of rigorous testing of some of the newer ND filters options as of 2019, the ones that passed have made it on my list:

Valuable work! I have used both unbonded and sealed filters and IMHO you are not saving money buying unbounded filters. If you are working with different camera assistants on paid shoots with the usual time pressures you will slowly but surely collect a lot of scratches. Most of them fine scratches that have minimal impact but it all adds up over time. I have Bonded filters that are 30 years old and still in great condition.

Yep, bonded is the way to go. Especially if you are renting your gear out.

Woof. Can't believe it's been over two years since I've updated this thread, but there's obviously been many updates to my tools to reflect new cameras, formats, etc.

Today I've released a new one:

http://phfx.com/tools/exposureTable

𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝗧𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 - Do you work for exposure? Before I embark on this shoot for the next couple of weeks, thought I'd drop a new and useful tool for cinematographers at PHFX | tools. Well not new, I mean many memorize their most used tables or have a nice bit of notes for a variety of shooting scenarios and cameras. But this is a dynamic and customizable Exposure Table based on your Frame Rate, Shutter Speed or Shutter Angle, and ISO Rating. It reports back how much light you need in Footcandles or Lux to achieve an at Key Exposure (metered 18% Gray) in one stop increments. Handy to gauge how much light you really need for standard exposure practices, off or high speed filming, and other exposure methods. Thanks again to the sponsors of my tools and truly thanks for all who have bought me a coffee. I very literally use those funds for that and only that, which is why I don't sleep

Phil,

Thanks alot for all you do! Your tools are my reference for damn near everything!
