  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

PHFX | tools

Thank you Phil- used your Premiere presets on fishbowl (5k late 2015 iMac) and everything is working great. Just changed a 6k anamorphic project over as well. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I've just added one more useful thing to PHFX | tools. formatCompare will compare to Format Sizes from digital cinema cameras as well as film and also provide a Crop Factor Datasheet. This is particularly useful if you are working on multi-camera productions with different formats or if you are RED shooter working with different formats or sensor technologies. This currently supports RED Dragon, Helium, and Mysterium-X sensor tech as well. I'll be adding and updating this over time as new cameras are released.

Enjoy.

Bad weather on location, but it's a good time to launch another PHFX | tool. REDFormatKey. This tools is a datasheet generator and will produce information for every Format and Resolution for a given RED camera model. Additionally it shows maximum frame rate, image plane dimensions, image circle, megapixel count, and relative crop factors for Super 35mm and Full Frame 35mm formats.

This was inspired by stumbling upon a format key datasheet I made back in 2012 at a production company while filming out of the country this week. It's good to stay up to date.

Big update this evening.

PHFX | tools now supports both RED Weapon 8K S35 and Epic-W featuring the Helium sensor technology.

There are subtle differences between the resolutions and formats when compared to Dragon. 6K FF for instance. Dive in and take a look.

A couple more updates coming later this week as well.

I'm gonna be busy updating things this week.

So here's a new RED DSMC2 Camera Lineup One Sheet - 2016 Edition.

Click it for a bigger version.

This is a good way to take a look at all RED's current 2016 camera offerings at a glance and likely good reference just to have handy.

Well today's the big day. Adobe Premiere Pro CC 2017 has been released.

Important things:
- Helium Support
- REDWideGamutRGB and Log3G10 Support

Plus of course new features.

RED Weapon 8K VV, Weapon 8K S35, and Epic-W 8K S35 all have had slight changes to a few common formats/resolutions. For instance 6K FF is now 6144x3240 compared to say Epic Dragon 6K FF, which is 6144x3160.

Because of these subtle changes I've created Sequence Presets for 8K RED camera models as well as 6K and under cameras.

They can be found right here:

2017.07.04 - lensData update: Zeiss CP.3, Leica Thalia, Cooke, Tokina, Sigma Cine, and more

It's a holiday and I shouldn't be working, BUT, it's been a busy couple months of new cinema lenses. Zeiss, Leica, Cooke, Tokina, Sigma, etc... Covering all sorts of formats. I've tested nearly everything and had them on camera, so if you are curious if they cover your RED camera or whatever camera, it's here. Big thank you to all of the manufacturers and bigger thanks for making glass that covers larger formats!
