Decisions -- "Twin Graves" a second year film by myself starring my friend Rachel Miner is almost done. Question becomes which Festival to send it to and I am hoping Cannes will accept it. The screenplay has done well on the festival circuit, let's hope they like the film. Paperwork will need to be done, and a poster created ... Thank goodness all the great stuff RED gives you as well as I had a dear friend and photographer (Robin Kupferman) come and take some amazing photos.

The screenplay is finishing up it's round this year, it's in the top 11 at Richmond Film Fest, won 4th at The California Film Awards, Won IFQ Film Fest.

My thesis screenplay "Dating Alfie" won Vegas Cine Awards. I am turning into Danish and we will see how it flows - the hope, the goal is to raise enough money to shoot it there, bring one American Actor and a friend and hire the rest where I was born and grew up.

In the meantime, after loads of RED filming I am cutting together my first all RED REEL -- pretty exciting. I wasn't allowed footage from two shows ... I guess it happens, but annoying, yes - onwards...

I will post a link to my new vimeo reel when it's done. Would love to get the entire thing corrected at Light-Iron but for now it will have to wait.

In 3 short years @ NYU I have experience the change-over/acceptance that RED is and will lead the way in the future for filmmaking. When I began classes film was still being entertained on a regular basis. It's still a beautiful medium but expensive. RED is more than a suitable candidate for the job. Jim and Jarred have even stated the fact that the RED ONE has still created/captured some of the most memorable experiences on camera in the last 8 years. Whatever the reason for this is (Vision/Determination) the first word out of everyone's mouth in my neck of the words when discussing high-end cameras is (RED).

With that I just want to thank Jim, Jarred, Whitney, Brent, Graeme, Team RED for making me look good (And my footage) as I officially become an adult this year at 34.

The last 3 years have gone by so quickly, and it's culmination so far was being able to put tremendous artists on RED. Jessica Chastain, Rachel Miner, Michael Urie, and of course the world Champion 1992 Dallas Cowboys. Life has changed, because of this medium so much for me, 100% about the art and being happy.

I have never been more content than I am right now.

I haven't posted in awhile... Soon I will be on Thesis watch which poses it's own challenges. The last 3 years have been an amazing Roller-Coaster. The main thing which has fueled my life has been making sure my family wont deal with the same issues I have, while still maintaining happiness.

I have always been a camera junkie, even though I may not have known it. It all began in Africa when I was8 or so. My mother had MS went to a clinic in Kenya to get treated and my Father lent me his Leica to take shots. Even then I knew how to get things in focus, and sorta get an exposure. Fast forward to today... I am 100% all in with REDRAW -- And so are many others.

When I first started Tisch at NYU, people were making arguments for Alexa, this isn't the case anymore. I see it on REDUser from time to time but its become white noise. As the Queen tellls Hamlet "The lady doth protest too much (long pause) ----- methinks".[FONT=Helvetica Neue, Arial, Liberation Sans, FreeSans, sans-serif] [/FONT]If you like Alexa great... Why continually post of REDUser? It just doesn't make any damn sense to me. For me I will make an informed decision as to what I will shoot one my projects. There is zero doubt in my mind what gives me the most power on set ... I don't want built in ND's, large buttons, or anything that doesn't require use of the skills I have spent the last 9 years developing professionally.

Back to NYU now ... Now, the first camera out of a given Professor working in the industry mouth is RED. Visiting DPs shoot or own RED. The Epic, REDONE, Scarlet are amazing machines. Machines, which in my opinion all are superior to the new 120K plus whatever system... I love the fact that I have to treat my camera as a cinema camera, I love the built in histogram, the power color sliders in the menu, the other advanced settings. I mean we are spoiled... But you have to know what those buttons do... Learn the language and you will be rewarded beyond you expectations.

This is my opinion. Take it for what it's worth.

PS - Went to OUTPOST U @ LIGHTIRON IN NYC and Michael Cioni was brilliant as usual. I highly recommend anyone go there to see the work they are doing for workflow on set. It's nothing short of remarkable.
