  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OFFHOLLYWOOD OMOD Modules for RED WEAPON

Mark, any chance we se a OMOD XLR with built in v-mount plate at the back? To get the rig more compact?

We will roll out OMOD XLR same as the other OMODs - supporting all DSMC2 battery module options with RED's interface on the back of the OMOD - the cable-less battery modules from WOODEN CAMERA are pretty damn compact - they are like 12mm thicker than the v-plate itself. Seems a little crazy to me to add another PCB and more cost to save approx. 12mm and reduce flexibility.

What's the size specifications of the OMOD XLR? Searched the Offhollywood site but couldn't find any. (Trying to calculate how much bigger the complete camera will be with the OMOD XLR instead of the Base Expander)
The XLR connectors also seems to be relocated on the samples compared to the original blueprints. How are the located? In an angle or on the side?

OMOD XLR is 2" long and 1.3 lbs - pic is prototype - before we added 2-pin aux power via lemo-type next to the timecode input.

Hey Mark - This looks awesome. I'm definitely snagging one of these for the Epic-W when it's available. Any update on ship-date? Still aiming for November?

I see the OMOD TX wireless video modules are no longer listed on Offhollywood - have I missed something? Is this due to the new Bolt 1000 & 3000 superseding the 600 & 2000?

With the new Bolt models, we wanted to wait a bit and see which flavor(s) of Teradek Bolt folks really want in OMOD TX units.

Hi Mark,

Can you give us all the sound specificities of the OMOD XLR and OMOD Poe XLR please ? I don't find all the details on the website.

Thanks

Two channels. AES or Analogue. Per Channel +48V Phantom Power. Per Channel Line/Mic levels. Per Channel High Pass Filters. Push-to-operate controls for levels. Peak LED indicators.

Do you need to purchase a top plate to attach the OMOD XLR to an Epic-W brain, or are the M4 screws in the back of the unit sufficient to support the weight?

Also are the OMOD XLRs on track for January deliveries or earlier?

Thanks,
-Mark

M4's hold the module just fine. Top plate is just to have some nice mounting real estate.

We will put small batch into the wild for testing this month. New orders are tracking to ship in late January, first come, first serve.

I should have pics for you next week.

Just placed my order. Happy to be a part of your pre-release small batch wild test :)

Cheers,

I have been using the OMOD Command for a long time and love it! Actually, the Command RT is the bees knees, dogs tuxedo or cats pajamas, take you pick!

You get two 33x33x33 3D LUTs, Ambient ACN timecode w/ genlock and RT Motion without the investment in cables, duct tape and 550 cord! I especially like the fact that I can use the battery module of my choice, which is currently Redvolt XL in my case. And I keep forgetting about the long range access point capability. It just works! Its nice to keep the DSMC2 small. What good is a small brain when you have to bolt on all of the extras?

I can't wait for the Command RT w/ audio so I can record backup audio in camera.

Perhaps these are stupid questions, but:

- The OMOD XLR and POE XLR will be better in sound quality than the DSMC2 Redvolt Expander?
- What should we buy in addition to the OMOD POE XLR to use the RT Motion?

** we are working on an upgrade to POE, COMMAND and COMMAND RT adding 1/8" in / out for audio with same exact quality audio as RED's Base Expander.

OMOD XLR and OMOD POE XLR have the "OMOD Pro Audio Board" with much higher fidelity audio control and features. Pretty much like having a high-end mixer on your camera.

To make "RT Motion" work - you need a RTmotion MK3.1 Handcontroller or RTMotion Thumbwheel to control EF lenses. To control PL lenses - you need the same plus RTMotion motor(s).

Agreed. The OMOD Command RT is by far the best module currently available for DSMC2 cameras. So many useful features in such a small package, and all without cables!
