I found this, here : http://www.red.com/cameras/format_options

I suppose this is what is available now, on the released cameras. I see 2K windowed up to 100fps, sweet !

Congrats Red team, I haven't had a chance to say so yet, BRAVO !

You've done it, it's there, they're out there, in the hands of the lucky few who found out about the project first and believed. Bravo to them, and to all Red believers.

And thank you,
Damien

If I read this right, then we have S35mm in redcode raw 30 frames - I thought S35mm was only for RAW port!?

Yes, you can still use S35mm lenses but you won't get as much information recording from the sensor that you would if you were recording from the RawPort at 2540p.

I don't believe this means that you will record the whole sensor using S35mm lenses and scale to 4K.

What the format chart doesn't tell us is whether it is using scaling or cropping, essentially you could shoot 2k with S35mm and 35mm lenses cropped anyway, what many are hoping for is the ability to use S35mm/35mm and scale to 2k in camera so that you can benefit from not having two sets of lenses yet still have the lower file size

Uhhh...yeah...it looks like the full 2540p sensor area can be recorded onboard now @30fps. That's great. And Jarred mentioned before that the aspect ratio can be set in camera to limit data rates if shooting 2.39:1 or 2:1 or whatever.

100fps. Nice, can't wait to shoot some overcranked footage.

I would offer the disclaimer that there have been numerous occasions where bad specs have been unintentionally published on that page. I will wait to hear it from an official, but, if it's true, that's fantastic news!

:) All together now: "Hip Hip..."

Maybe this option allows for the recording of a wider format but with less height, so that you have a similar data rate as a 4k 35mm frame, but you're using the width of the S35.

Indeed, this chart has not always been correct, nor easy to understand, I've made wrong interpretations in the past. Let the Red team rest a little and I'm shure they'll clear this up soon enough.

Cheers,
Damien

I for one am not disappointed at all with this. The question still out is:

How fast the footage can be turned into RGB or some other deliverable?

For us, it is not a big deal to take some time out at the end of the day or mix the process in during a days shoot. I could see how it might be for some though.

Cheers,
G

Hmmm... I think you may be on to something, Earthling!

Evin, I think you do. If memory serves, Mysterium's full active pixel array is 4,900 x 2,580. That said, I'm not sure if those pixels are reserved for black levels/goodies or if they're actually visible in Look Around.

I guess we'll find out later today.

Do you still get "look around" in 2540P Redcode?

I seem to recall you do, the myterium is actually 4.9k so it would allow it.

Cheers,
Damien

edit : Brook, you beat me to it, that's because I was still laughing from Anders post.

This is great news! I'm sure more things will change in the future, but I can only see them getting better :).
