  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- Proxy Module

Can anyone give me a hint, what happen to proxy module recording at 300fps or 400fps. Will it generate the proxy at 300-400fps at the same time too ?

EDIT : It loops thru HD-SDI, i guess it wont make it pass 60 fps. Oh dear

Thanks
Rivai

Why does video not pass through the unit? Losing the Sdi is a no go for me.

Awesome!! Will it make proxies from slow-mo?

If you look at the picture you'll see it also has SDI out. Shame about having to use a cable though.
Still an interesting product even if it's not what a lot of people were hoping for. Could be real useful with a firmware feature allowing for playback and recording of all the clips on an mag after the shoot.

Working with the +1 module ?

Same question - does this module work with the +1 module?
Or perhaps this new proxy module already has the extra LCD/EVF connection?

We need the extra viewing port and the proxy capability - we hope one doesn't cancel the other.

Thanks!

George

RED Rocks AGAIN!!!!

Will this work with RED One too?

If you can attach it and power it, I can't see why not - of course it won't be very neat, and for the cost, there are several third party HD-SDI/HDMI recorders that have additional useful features.

Aha very interesting.

One questions, when we are recording through hdmi is it possible to turn off the ISO settings in the viewfinder. Sometimes I make the screen much brighter just so that I can see what I'm focusing on but that would of course over expose the image send to the non raw files. Thoughts?

Please price the minimags near consumer ssd prices. The bitrates you're talking about at 1080 are small enough to be handled by any number of off-the-shelf ssds. I just hope these minimags land at no more than $2/GB.

It's hard for me to comment... As I wanted to be the guy that stood up the highest and yelled out YEAH!!!!!
But sadly I can't.

I think at the end of the day, I was after a pocket size Alexa recorder (an Epic that shot 4444 prores 4k or 2k red color 3 / redlogfilm film as well as r3ds as a backup plan incase I fucked up my color / tint/ kelvin. Pretty much clone the r3d in every way including frame rates.

Sorry Red team. You are progressing in the right direction with all your other products, but sadly this is not one of them.
Ill stick with the Sound devises 240 if this is the best you want to offer up as a alternative for Prores recording.

I 100% understand your thinking and motivation about pushing people through a raw workflow, but I'm not one of them..... Well not until real time processing of R3ds becomes reality.

Ill stick with my Red rocket workflow till then. At least you will have me for the new Redrocket X. (Pending its speed tests in a thunderbolt container)

Thanks for having a go guys. :) I do appreciate it.
Cheers.

Sorry to hear Mark, I tough this would have made you happy, but I get you.

Minimags? Does this mean, that we have to buy a new product and a new reader to use this?

It was talked about that there would be an incasing were the Mini SSD goes in to and then the 1.8" SSD sized incasing will insert in regular Readers.

But there is a RED Mini MAG reader.
