  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB 2011 update...

I saw a really impressive commercial for the new Cosmopolitan hotel in Vegas last night. They have multi-story columns in the main lobby paneled all four sides floor to ceiling with vertical LCD displays running a digital art installation.
Might be worth a stop to see, looked fantastic. Another potential market for higher than HD resolution work for Epic and Scarlet.

I may be able to make it for the last day ( I have to go to Vancouver on the 20th anyway so I guess it doesn't make much sense to fly all they way back to the east coast... I need to think of some more ways to rationalize this decision. :)

If by the last day you mean thursday the 14th, all will be pretty much done by that point. Wouldn't really be worth while going just for that day. A one day excursion between the 11-13th however would be much more enjoyable. :-)

If I took a plane right after the wedding I could make the 13-14th . 15.5 hours on the 8th from Florida to Japan. Japan to Las Vegas 10 hours. This better be pretty damn good surprise. :) I guess I can justify it (I haven't had time to go to NAB in years).

How is this relevant to anyone is beyond me. It's a major pain in the ass to search for any relevant info on virtually any of these threads. I am not picking on you Ryan, it's just enormously frustrating to keep track of any real relavant info in this mess of personal comments.

No Problem, that is completely fair. Just a bit over excited about NAB and most of all the scarlet (been waiting years for it and now it is almost here). I guess I will refrain from personal comments. Though I am glad I did post that other comment, got some great advice and changed my plans accordingly. Also word of advice best way to check for relevant data is to just click through pages until you see a posting from Jim, Jarred, or someone else from the red team. In the mean time calm down (If this is how you react over an irrelevant post, I would hate to see you under real stress). But I digress (which I suppose is ultimately what this post and yours is about). :)

have been holding off for Epic and I'm coming to Vegas for NAB. Will I be able to place an order while I am there (to make my business trip legit and keep my company happy?) Maybe I can even pack one in my suitcase and bring it home to Australia with me? :-) Can't wait to meet you guys.

Longtime Reduser lurker here. I've been following these forums for more than a few years now and I am very excited to say that I will be attending NAB this year. My friend and I were thinking about attending anyways but when we found out Red would be in attendance that sealed the deal. I look forward to meeting many camera enthusiasts in Las vegas.

In all seriousness, I can't wait to go to NAB and the REDUser party this year. I had all but given up on live action high-end digital cinema dreams and opted for 3D animation, but with HDR video being in the picture, I can't help but think of all the uses for both live action and animation. One HDR picture is good, but a constant stream of HDR pictures at 24 frames per second really gives the added touch of creative freedom. Not to mention the benefits for reference footage as well! Plus, there wasn't an Epic-S last year, very exciting!

I'm truly hoping for some relatively inexpensive 4K monitoring solution myself. If not that, then the immediate availability of RED Anamorphics would certainly be a welcome surprise!
 
Boy, am I having a hard time deciding which hotel to stay at. I stayed at the Tropicana last year to be close for Red Day.
This year, I think I'd like to be nearer the Convention Center and/or tram.
Anyone stay at the Flamingo? Imperial Palace? Sahara? Gold Nugget?
