  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB 2011 update...

The RED booth will be madly mobbed - the lines were huge even when they were just showing prototypes under glass. Imagine the chaos generated by shipping EPICs and unveiled surprises and such. It'll be nuts. I hope RED is buying a big enough booth.

I'll probably try to squeeze in Thursday, when the floor starts to empty.
 
I'm flying in monday morning, going straight from the airport to the convention center south entrance, ha!

I'm only there monday and tuesday; I fly out wednesday morning. If there's a RED party, I hope it's tuesday, otherwise I'll miss out. :(

Does anyone remember the lines last year for the REDUSER party?

RED may need their own HALL!

Actually, other than the very first one they have always been on Wednesdays. :-)
 
So does anyone have any idea when there may be a lull in the mob at the Red booth? The first day I usually just breeze past every booth and get a lay of the land. Then the next days I will zero in on the places that I want to visit. As much as I want to hit Red up first thing on Monday I may have to hold myself back until later in the week.
 
I was at the Riviera last year.....the ONLY good thing about was the omelet cook in the morning and the VERY short walk to the convention floor. Not to mention the price...and come to think of it....being that far north on the strip you don't have to navigate the mobs like you do farther south.
 
I HOPE to find out in the next couple of days whether or not I will get to go again this year. If so....I will book the Riviera again.
 
Anybody know why RED is in the post production/south hall area? seems like they should be the in the central hall with all the other camera manufacturers

don't ya think?

My guess is one of the big boys didn't want RED to rain on their parade and threw some weight around.

south hall is were the fun is! Autodesk, Adobe, Avid, Maxon, Eyeon, Blackmagic-design, the Foundry, Motion Analysis, SynthEyes .... just to name a few. One of the many things Red gets right is Post! ....
 
While it is true Red has been in the south hall always and they are part of the post world to, I would still love to watch Sony reps staring at the throngs of people mobbing the RED booth.

I was quite entertaining to watch at the last NAB RED officially attended as reps from other companies saw the lines around the RED booth.
 
Hey Paul, You still might get your wish, the long line for Red's booth might just reach the central hall. I plan on working the line with my portable vending rig... drinks, hotdogs, slots and sleeping bags... I'm hoping to make enough for an EpicM or maybe a used Red 16GB CF card.

I don't think Red belongs with the other camera manufacturers.
