  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

my EOS "smart" mount...

nothing personal akube... but your luck with mounts sucks! a broken birger and now a lost andy.

it'll be worth it though. got mine and installed it with little problems... err ... tonight.

the test footage from my canon L lenses look so sweet.
 
lol.. ironically.. the mount has touched base outside the american continents... it is now in this city.. called cologne. LOOL.

seriously.. it is called cologne. and, it is in germany.. of all the places it could land.

I wonder .. Why?? .. wtf? I mean .. frankfurt makes sense.. because a lot of shipments must be made to a bigger city.. but of all the big ass cities out there in europe.. I bet someone at ups had a twisted sense of humour.
 
I can't explain why it has landed there but Cologne is not really a small village you know... Maybe you should start travelling outside California one day?

UPS Headquarter Airport in Europe is in Cologne… so nothing to worry about…

At least you can say our mounts are not alone in this trip.
They rescheduled my delivery to the 29th of Dec... :(

I have, i just got back from nantes, france. And I do annually visit Germany for the berlinale. I've been to munich, frankfurt, and berlin.

On a side note.. my mount has landed in Dubai.. I am getting it tomorrow morning. :D
 
would've been hilarious to put a second shoulder mount on the front end of those rods.

Could i use my Contax Zeiss lens or Leica lens without problem on the dumb mount?
Using the proper Ef adapter obviously...

Could someone confirm ?

can't found the procedure to order, either the shop actually.. Probably down at the moment?
 
What i mean by a proper use is would i be able to adjust the aperture and focus manually?
Will the lens focus to infinite?

In theory this should work without trouble using a Contax-to-Canon adapter, which is readily available on the Internets.

Focus/Aperture controls should not be a problem at all, since they are a mechanical part of the lens.

Better still, in a few days (UPS shipping permitting), I will be able to give you a definite answer.

Finally, Andy makes this equation possible:

RED + Contax = :love:

I ordered online a few days ago, paid at once with PayPal and today I got a tracking number.

P.S. Andy, on your website you said you'd post a video of the installation procedure. Looks like I would be in need of that one in the not too far future.

Will post some Contax footage once the mount is here.

It's actually very simple Martin. I also ended up getting the Nikon dumb mount and it's almost the same so you can take a look at that video too. But I put my red on a tripod so I can skip the little balloon part. Andy has just an extra step and two additional parts that go with it but it's easy to figure out.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask here or pm me... hopefully I can help out. But Andy has been great with email help.

i'm still doing testing and all that... and working through some backfocus issues which i'm thinking it might be my lenses.

it'll be interesting to hear all of you experiences.

other then that, i'm having a lot of fun.

The store still states that the mounts are "sold out". Has the store moved to a new location? Are they available?
