Monkey Extract Questions

Also, when will ME support Red Rocket rendering?

Craig,

ME's black and white points are set from 0 to 100. Is there a plan in the future that will be changed to 0 to 1023?

Hi Kaku

There are no plans for this.
The 0 to 100 is floating point though so you can just convert your numbers to percentage (i.e. you can use 29.297 where you'd otherwise use 300) and you'll get the same effect. There is no loss of precision.

Cheers

I asked because when I tried to input with decimals it didn't seem to accept it but I will try again. Thanks.

RED Rocket™ support is definitely coming.
I haven't got an ETA for you yet though.

I'm getting by using Flight Director that Hans made for me to render only from the XML with ROCKETcine-X but it lacks generating relinked XML. So If ME support RED ROCKET rendering, it would be superb and if you get together with Hans and combine the RSX adjusting that would be even better.

Hey monkey boys! I used a demo of your software early on to batch generate new/replace proxies for a reel of r3d's with a new grade on it. Is this still possible?

I forgot how I did it but was amazed when it worked. This was like a year ago...

what up? amd thanks.

Yes.

Select "Quicktime Wrappers" as your output format.
You can then point Monkey Extract at your R3D files top level directory and choose "render all footage from the source directory"

When you render you'll get proxies instead of quicktimes :)

any word on when ME will support the footage coming from the MX sensors, with all the noise-reduction improvements that go along with full support of this?

i know any ol' application that works with .r3d's can deal with the new files, but they don't process out/take advantage of...the new science, and the files come out looking like they were shot on old reds.

Craig??

Hi Chris,

Monkey Extract uses Redline to render
As soon as Redline has been updated to take advantage of the new MX sensors Monkey Extract will be updated to take advantage of this.

RedCine version?

RedCine version?

Hi there
Great app. Experimenting with your trial version 3.100. I am trying to send a sequence of shots to RedCine. It tells me to 1. Open RedCine 2. Select "Project, New..." 3. "Import....

I am using Build 44 of Red Cine. Are you referring to an earlier vers/build to do this? I am not seeing a "Project, New..." option on my current version. Which version should I get if it is a different one?

Hi there,

It looks like you are using the RedCine-X beta, which is a completely different product than the RedCine that Monkey Extract was built to support.

We don't yet have support in place for RedCine-X.

Also, the old RedCine doesn't appear to be available from red.com/support.
It looks like you'll need to wait for the Monkey Extract update. We don't have an ETA for this yet unfortunately.

Hi, I rendered in rocketcine-x utilising the flut control and wanted to do the final conform in monkey extract but the colour is all wrong - I can only assume that there is rsx info that monkey extract can't read properly? Is there anyway around this? It'd be a real shame to not be able to use these new tools in rocketcine..

I don't remember Monkey Extract was announced to support FLUT, yet.

Hi Olivia,

We are still waiting on the latest release of Redline to enable FLUT support in Monkey Extract. It is in development, however I can't give you any news on development status or release date unfortunately.

Hello

I'm trying to get a DPX sequence out of a FCP XML using Monkey Extract
Everything works fine expect the DPX doesn't carry the "look" i've set in camera.
When you use REDrushes, it gives you the option to set LOOK SOURCE > Camera..

How do I achieve that in Monkey Extract

My settings are:
- Use metadata from each shot

- don't use RSX settings

Footage Color Space: Camera RGB (i've also tried Use settings above and didn't work either)

any ideas.

Thanks for your time.

Best -

Are you using an MX sensor for this? If so you'll probably have trouble with the build 30 footage since the current release of Redline doesn't yet have support for this. We are hoping for a new redline release very soon..
