  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

May Product Delivery Update

Plus one to audio playback? Also I looking forward to activate the gyro.

Does 5k hd, 3k hd mean 16:9?
Is quad hd to close to 4k so it was no point to make a 4k 16:9?

* Added Gyro support

Jarred, since we'll be working with it enabled in a few days, can you placate us with a bit of info on the "Gyro support" feature and what exactly that is?
Cheers, that's a bunch of hard work represented in this list of updates :)
Jeff

Yeah I'm kind of stymied on this one...

Give them an inch...

Give them an inch...

Any chance of 2.5K HD in the future to get a usable 50fps out of the Scarlet?

I suggested about a year ago that RED offer a resolution option for Epic that gives us enough pixels for a clean 1080P decode/scale (I would think around 1,280 vertical), but no more, to maximize the "clean" FPS rate. For some projects its essentially invisible when you take a 1,024 vertical pixel image and up-rez it into a 1080 timeline, but not always, especially if there is a bit more noise in the oft used 2K-WS, 300fps image to start with. 3K is the usual compromise, but at 150fps its not much more over crank than 4KHD at 120fps so I rarely use it.

Perhaps a 1,280 by 2,560 2:1 (2.5K) frame could get up to 200FPS+ and fill the gap between 4K@120 and 2K-WS@300? With the higher data rate RedMags in the pipeline, this could lead to lower compression 1080 output with no up-rezzing at frame rates enough higher than 120 to expand creative options...

Or, maybe I am suggesting this so Rob doesn't get any extra time off after this build ships ,-)

Cheers - #19

Great, Thanks for the info. 120 fps sounds great. Let's see, how is the image going to hold up.

So stoked out! Thanks

2.5k sounds interesting.. will add it to the list.

Anamorphic is not out of the question for Scarlet..

Gyro support means we have turned on the sensors... info will be sent to metadata for various programs to work with.. all that work obviously needs to be done as we work with 3rd paries.

With a little tiny bit of hackery this should be doable ASAP with PFTrack which lets you give it a "hint" animation track. Just load it up in Nuke and spit out a CSV file with the orientation.

Great... would love to have the ana feature... I dont shoot ana often, but its nice when ya get to. Even morenice when you dont gotta do a bunch of crap to get it all streteched out in post. Ha

Thanks for keeping us up to date

Does this update correct the issue with 720p HDSDI output not showing the on screen info???

I'd still like to see a 1.5k @96fps (give or take) as well - would be more useable for me than the 1k 120fps.

That being said, I'm super excited to finally get support for that. Thanks guys :)

Even more excited about what lies ahead for those gyros!

Here is a little window into the build..

That's a little window... that's pretty solid. I mean I want more sure but I'm sure everyone at Red does to.

*Added 1-camera to multiple Redmote Support - not sure I get that completely - but multiple cameras from one Redmote would be good.

*Added Slate Information Dialog - use the touch keyboard to enter notes... that would be nice

*Added Post Record Fan Delay - clever and simple solution for many situations

*Target REDCode feature - if I understand that correctly - that's a great idea

Has the Rocker +/- button on the Side Handle become more responsive?

-------------------
Correction - I just received my Redmote. Now I know it can currently control multiple cameras from one controller.

WOW - I am so impressed. Thank you SO much - this is going to be huge. A really impressive display of RED helping post
