March shipment Update - Weapon, Scarlet-W, Raven

[jordan levy]

You like the hypercore slim better than the Anton Bauer cine line?

only because they are smaller, lighter and cheaper.
AB is probably better quality.

Probably a bit out of subject here but it still concerns shipment...
Any news on when the Woven 7'' Touch Screen will be available?
Same thing for the DSMC2 Outrigger Handle?

[Marco Hanna]

Outriggers are shipping towards the end of the month. CF 7-inch same, AL 7-inch shipping within a few days.

heck yeah! Same- thanks Jarred!

[Andreas Mendritzki]

@Brent What about the 4.7" LCD and new EVF? We've had our lovely CF Weapon here since January, but not really fully up and running rentable because we're still missing these key components.

[Andre Vaternam]

Just ordered an CF 7-inch on Feb 26, Website (US) now says 7-10 business days. Do they catch up? Any chance it will come in that time-frame, what do you think?

[Rakesh Malik]

looks like epic-w rumors have to wait…
i couldnt even imagine them releasing something else in the middle of all this!
i cant even get a hold of my rep!

I haven't even been able to get a quote from my rep (to make sure that I have my finances covered)... sigh. I'm fairly certain that I'll be in good shape, but since I'm getting a bundle, I'm going to need to budget for an additional mount, since I have no Canon lenses, and would like to use my PL lenses on my Scarlet-W.

I have an order in from Feb 9th.. and still no word.

BTW... Making a road trip out to NAB this year, looking forward to finally meeting many of you!!

[Antonio Forjaz]

Thanks for the up date Jarred, and congratulations to Ron Amborn.

Dropped off my Dragon on Monday morning, hoping my Weapon will be ready soon.

Thanks to all at RED for their hard work and innovation, and for making it possible for many to make movies with some of the best equipment in the world.

I'll be there as well, helping to cover the event for Red Shark News...

[Brent Carter]

Looking for forward to meeting you, Rakesh and Brad!

Looking for forward to meeting you, Rakesh and Brad!

It's mutual

I'm also interested in any press events you guys might have... Red doesn't get much coverage on Red Shark News, mainly because the people contributing to it don't have Red cameras to write about.

Looking forward to meeting you as well Brent!!

Hi Guys, I was wondering if you guys know of any specific screen protector to use for the 7" monitor? I would totally love to get some protection going on

[Karim Ayari]

I always used an iPad screen protector and cut it to the size of the Red Touch screen.

Has anyone that ordered at NAB received their 8k upgrade yet or did these all go to the friends with the secret handshake?
Is there an 8k weapon available to rent anywhere now besides the panavision ones committed to gog2?

Weapon 8k sensors are still coming in very slowly... not a lot of new news there. We have another big batch of sensors coming in the end of month so we are excited to package those up and get them out as soon as they pass qualification. The 8k Weapons that are out there are doing incredible things.. and it is pretty exciting to see the reactions of every new person that opens up their footage from the 8k for the first time...

Answer:

I'm getting dozens and dozens of requests for 8ks everyday, and yes Marvel / Panavision is still gobbling every one that comes off the line. We will get out of the one-by-one "tedious" production of 8ks when we start doing monster batches at the end of March and the production of 8ks will ramp up significantly at that time.

I imagine at some point this month more 8K Weapon bodies will be out in the wild.

Totally off topic but, I just got a gig in Dusseldorf for the end of May - any suggestions - never been there before.

from what I hear Jarred and Jim are very approachable and will shake your hand too the same way as everyone else. I think Jarred is being a bit obscure here because the sensors have to go through a rigorous QC and it's possible that many won't pass. They want to know what yield of good ones they have before saying anything specific. I would say it's a good sign that people who ordered at NAB may start to get allocation how many they probably don't know, and won't know for a bit. take his message as his way of saying I'd love to tell you many/some will get it but we need to know yields first.

I can understand the urgency and need people have including myself. I'm grateful that they are sharing this info with us. As I have an IMAX film waiting to start. so in a way it's more of a need then most as I will utilize every pixel of that camera I can shot on any other camera.

If your going to read between the lines, try to find the real message or explore it. Red is fair. I'm a no one and received one of the first CF weapons because my order and payment were quick.
