Making assumptions of others attacking their intellect and writing them off based on a few comments is bad form in my opinion, but hey you can do whatever you like. And that goes for everyone, being humble and respectful to those you disagree with, even in the face of an unrelenting attack, is a true measure of a person in my opinion. Intellect and information should not be something to hold over a person or used to embarrass them, even though it often is. A persons ability to clearly communicate their internal feelings through some hastily written text should by no means be the basis of the measure of a person.

On topic, do I think the branding could be toned down, yes, do I care enough to sign a petition or take my business elsewhere, no.

Bwahahaha. "News". Loved the "news article" on how 9/11 was an inside job. Definitely didn't come off as your typical tin-foil hat conspiracy nonsense.

Or how the US was behind the chemical attacks in Syria and how they cited a UN investigator who claimed that US backed Syrian rebels were behind the chemical attack but when you go to the article in the link that's not actually what the UN investigator said at all. And then at the end of the article, after no real evidence has been presented, the author asserts that America is basically evil and wants to destroy the world. Great "journalism". It's definitely not an openly and extremely leftist, sensationalist conspiracy tabloid with no journalistic integrity whatsoever.

This thread is getting out of control though, I'm done. I shouldn't have indulged this nut with my attention in the first place. Let's get back on track. I still agree Red's branding could use some work.

Wow. Just got home.


First. This thread started off on the right foot. People expressing opinions on both sides.

Second. Attacking those who don't share the same opinion (either side of the discussion) is just not part of a "discussion".

Third. This is a public forum. However, it is a public forum that is moderated. I just read all 12 pages, good stuff. Personal attacks and name calling are not permitted here. This isn't about negativity or positivity, this is about forum policy and on a more personal note professional conduct. Insulting forum members, those who contribute to the Red community, and the actual customer base of Red cameras isn't exactly the best way to get any point across around here.

Fourth. The reason I know about some of Jim's thoughts regarding the design aesthetic is he used to post here and visit the forum to discuss other topics with folks. Additionally, I've met some of the designers at NAB and "around". This subject has been brought up before. This is nothing new to Red and it is part of their image. That said, it's a healthy topic to explore.

Also to note, Red does actually desire feedback from customers and there are several products that are a direct response to customer feedback that are currently available.

Fifth. For somebody who is extremely critical of "verbosity" I am amused at the length of these posts Harry. You are combative and goading. We've learned much about your intelligence, educational speaking, and your news website (twice). We're not asking you to "prove" anything. You've made a point regarding design and marketing strategy. A point that could have been made in a paragraph. However, whatever else is going on here is somewhat lost in the hay.

Sixth. To answer the one technical question you had Harry, as I'm more or less trying to be helpful here. Red's AKS are laser etched. Not painted.

agreed, that is precisely why logan should not have begun the process of questioning my intelligence. A mistake on logan's part. I did not begin to question his intelligence levels until he brought up the topic. that is the correct chronology here.
