  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Letus Gimbal

Wow! Rock solid. This indicates if the unit is tuned well then it would work fine. Thanks for sharing.
Here it is.

Absolutely no practice, first time handling the camera that got recorded, and posted. From beginning to end took me about 3 minutes. All I did prepare for the shoot was a shower before coming to the office. Any of you guys can do better than me.

Haha Dan, if I decide to go on the Virgin Galactic, I would ask Alex about the algorithm he is using and will get that answer.

Cool mirror test! I like it!

very curious how the IMUs in these gimbals work in low G or Zero G conditions like aboard a space-x vehicle for instance ;)

Got some footage. It seems I've experienced a lot of vertical shakes. I think it might be the thick SDI cable but my brother has balanced the gimbal correctly.

I guess you are having some tuning issues? The bridge footage is a bit severe.

On another note, Which camera were you using? There is a large dust spot.

Hienle best me to it. Hope this alleviates your concerns Les. As stated, Helix really is amazing and beautifully built.

what we have here is a bunch of new gimbal ops 1st learning how to rig their cameras, then learning how to balance a gimbal (took me a day or so last Nov) and then learning how to dial in the software (the part of the process I'm holding at till I can find another day to test each setting).

Once sorted, it will take an op just minutes to get ready for a shoot as helix on board power, ability to be set down without a stand & low profile design makes setup extremely easy to use.

sorry I haven't had time to check back in but as Elizabeth said, real life & business must continue lol.

So after seeing this I trust you've ordered yours finally?

Thank you,

I keep imagining a single user with a tuned RED helix, shooting a mirror to show how it works.
Too much to ask, as only one or two exist , and they seem to be rented out or something.... Or ?

Kind of reminds me of the lack of Dragon footage R3d actually getting posted back when there were a half dozen of them out in the field.

someone PM me what's going on here, if it's more appropriate.

Paul,
Yes, I ordered before the mirror video was publicly released. I have been talking to Hien on PM as well. I've turned him on to a development for the Helix that is very exciting as well.
I should have my Helix in a week or so.
Thanks,
-Les

My bmcc, cleaned the dust spot.

Yes I'm not sure how to tune it. This is not the first time I've used a gimbal, and the vertical motion was was really great when we were at the HQ.

I hope everyone knows that to me the Helix is amazing, and do not hesistate to get one.

Just did one of the Helix Video Conference training sessions today. Super helpful. Highly recommended! Hien, GT and the Letus team are...amazing.

New profile today. One or two might be on the wrong profile.
Vertical motion apparent—I'm going to practice using the Helix, its different than my Besteady One.
Also will tweak profile.

looks great, seems well balanced and working well. Also thanks for posting the total weight how much did just the camera weigh in at? How long did it take to achieve balance?
